E-reading strategy model to read E-school book in Libya
Abstract:- defining the stages for the reader to follow when reading e-resources is only one of several factors which can provide a significant understanding of the actual reading behaviour and cognitive process of reading. This article aims to compare reading processes that students follow when reading school books in two different media (paper and electronic). A sample of 80 students, studying in Libyan primary schools, and aged 9 to 12, were selected to investigate how students use and interact with both print and digital school–books, how they identify the e-reading process, and to define what students like and dislike in both versions. Creating a visual interface for navigating large UDDI business registries
This paper introduces a framework of a 2D visual interface for interactive navigating of UDDI Business Registries to discover appropriate services for the service requester among the available Web Services. By creating a 2D interactive visual interface, users are able to visually navigate through the large information hierarchies that are usually used to present the UDDI Business Registries, instead of using the traditional keywords or click-through searching methodologies which are often inefficient and less obvious. Several visualization techniques can be employed to achieve this objective, Image-Map used in this case. A simplified web-based UDDI business registry prototype with visual interface has been developed by using some open source technologies, such as, MySQL for backend data source layer, Apache HTTP server with PHP for business logic layer and dynamic Image-Map visualization with XHTML and client side scripting language JavaScript for presentation layer
A ENCCON visual browser for large-scale online auctions
The Internet has dramatically brought more and more together buyers and sellers to the electronic marketplaces. Despite a rapid growing of interest and researches on the internet-based online e-commerce systems, the design of efficient mechanisms for navigating online product catalogs is still quite limited, especially for online auctions. This paper describes an interactively visual interface for navigating product catalogs of large-scale online auction sites. We use the ENCCON layout algorithm to display the entire, as well as a portion of product hierarchy. The display of the hierarchy is accommodated with a focus+context viewing technique for moving the interesting focus of users around the product hierarchy. We have developed an online auction prototype to simulate the ordinary auction activities with the assistance of proposed ENCCON visual interface
A web-based interactive visual component for online collaborative business process management
This paper describes a web-based interactive visual component for supporting online collaborative business process management. This component supports not only the outputs of visual information but also the input of visual information interactively. Most of traditional web-based visualizations are only used for viewing information and they are not interactive. They focused on how rich graphics could simplify the cognition process in understanding information, but they paid less attention on how to use visualizations as an interface for input and output of information. Most traditional web-based visual components are unable to send input information from web clients to web servers, especially when network firewalls or proxies exist between the web clients and the web server. The web-based interactive visual component introduced in the paper employs a HTTP-based communication module to transfer information from web clients to the web server. The HTTP-based communication module plays the role of the information management infrastructure that receives the information and manages them in an information repository
A fast focus+context viewing technique for web navigation
Most web browsers do not give users a proper visual aid to guide their web journey. One of the approaches to overcome this problem is to use graphs and trees visualization. This paper presents a simple and fast focus+context technique for the navigation of web sites. We firstly give an overview of existing visualization techniques for web navigation. We then briefly present the hierarchical layout techniques as well as its advantages and limitations. We finally describe our focus+context technique for the navigation of hierarchical web structures

Policy based architecture for QoS over differentiated services network
Current Internet architecture is based on the Best Effort (BE) model, where packets can be dropped indiscriminately in the event of congestion. This architecture attempts to deliver all traffic as soon as possible within the limits of its abilities, but without any guarantees about throughput, delay and packet loss etc. Though such a model works well for certain traditional applications such as FTP, E-mail and less QoS constrained applications, it can be intolerable for newly emerged real-time, multimedia applications such as Internet Telephony, Video-Conferencing and Video on-Demand. This paper is based on the on-going research activities being carried out by various researchers in the area of QoS and proposes a Policy Based Network (PBN) architecture for the Differentiated Services (Diff-serv) Network. Policy Based Networking received much attention recently as the devices within the networks can be implemented with greater control. Our proposed architecture ti based on the functionalities defined within the existing IETF/DMTF Policy architecture, with an objective to achieve QoS through proper Resource management techniques
Navigating product catalogs using 2+1D fisheye browser
This paper introduces a novel user interface of online product catalogs. Our research focused on its capability for helping shoppers to navigate and analyze online product information. Specifically, we discuss the application of a new multi-level focus+context visualization technique, called 2+1D Fisheye Browser, in the design of interactive visual interface which can be used to assist buyers in navigating online product catalogs which contain large number of products. The 2+1D Fisheye Browser uses an ordinary 2D Hyperbolic Tree Browser to display the major structure of hierarchies while a 1D distortion-based Fisheye Menu is also used to assist the display of those sub-hierarchies containing large number of leaf nodes. We implement this technique as a visual product catalog of an online Grocery Shop. This Grocery Shop system simulates the experience of online shopping. It is applicable to any e-commerce shopping application
