Students\u27 and Lecturers\u27 Perceptions on The Implementation of Online Learning During Covid-19 Pandemic
Get PDFThe objective of this research is to explore students’ and lecturers’ perceptions on the implementation of online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic at the English Department of Universitas Bandar Lampung. This research was qualitative research and used questionnaires and interviews as its instruments of data collection. The results of the research showed that the students\u27 and lecturers\u27 perceptions are quite satisfied with the implementation of online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic at the English Department of Universitas Bandar Lampung. Students and lecturers have similar perceptions on flexibility indicators, including accessibility and time management. Therefore, there are also differences between the student\u27s and lecturers\u27 perceptions of effectiveness and problems. They also give some suggestions for students, suggestions for lecturers, and suggestions for the university so that the quality of online learning that is already good enough can be improved again so that some of the shortcomings can be minimized in the future
Students’ Perception of Using Podcasts to Improve Listening Skills at the 3rd Semester Students of English Department at Universitas Bandar Lampung
Get PDFThe process of developing listening skills involves capturing the speaker's words, grasping their intended message, and encompassing the roles of both speaker and listener, along with the auditory aspect. This study aims to investigate how students perceive the use of podcasts for enhancing listening skills among 3rd semester students in the English Department of Universitas Bandar Lampung. Employing qualitative methods, the research was conducted with a participant group of 34 students from the university's English Department. Data collection encompassed surveys and interviews involving 5 students. The collected data was analyzed by merging insights from both the surveys and interviews. The findings demonstrate noticeable enhancements in students' listening skills through the integration of podcasts as a learning medium. Consequently, students' viewpoints regarding podcast utilization for improving listening skills exhibited advancements in effectiveness and distinctiveness. Students expressed appreciation for the captivating and informative nature of this learning medium

The Study On The Acquisition Order Of English Morphemes In The First Semester Students In English Education Study Program At Bandar Lampung University
Get PDFThe aim of this research is to find out the order of morphemes acquisition in the first semester students at English Education Study Program, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Bandar Lampung University. The subjects of this research are twenty-one students in the first semester at English study program at Bandar Lampung University. Their ages ranged from 17-35 years old. They studied English as a subject in their schools for more than 7 years. To obtain the research data, picture based story is used and the subjects of the research are asked to write a story based on the picture given. From their writings, the acquisition of five English morphemes is analyzed. The result shows that the order of morphemes acquisition on the subjects of the research are 1) Plural (90.4%), 2) Past regular (85.7%), 3) Progressive (83.8%), 4) Past irregular (82.7%) 5) Third person singular (50%)
Investigating the Deep Learning Approach and Lampung Cultural Values (Piil Pesenggiri): A Theoretical and Cultural Analysis
Get PDFThis conceptual paper investigates how the deep learning approach articulated in the New Pedagogies for Deep Learning (NPDL) framework can be theoretically and culturally aligned with Indonesian national graduate profiles, recent Indonesian government formulations of Pembelajaran Mendalam (PM), and the Lampung cultural philosophy of Piil Pesenggiri in the context of English language teaching (ELT). Drawing on document analysis of NPDL texts, Indonesian curriculum and policy documents, the Academic Paper on Deep Learning, scholarly discussions of graduate profiles, and regional literature on Piil Pesenggiri, the study develops a tri-level comparison between global, national, and local frameworks. The analysis shows that NPDL’s six global competencies-character, citizenship, collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking-broadly converge with Kemendikdasmen’s holistic, competency-based vision of graduates and with national deep learning discourse, which combines knowledge, skills, character, and citizenship in integrated graduate profiles. At the local level, core elements of Piil Pesenggiri such as juluk adok, nemui nyimah, nengah nyappur, and sakai sambayan provide cultural resources that can support the social, ethical, and collaborative dimensions of deep learning, while also generating tensions around honour, face, hierarchy, and group harmony. The paper argues that, when these convergences and tensions are explicitly recognised, ELT classrooms in Lampung can be designed as spaces for deep learning projects that develop the 6Cs through locally meaningful themes, tasks, and interaction norms. The study concludes by outlining principles for culturally responsive, deep learning-oriented ELT and by suggesting directions for future empirical research on the localisation of global pedagogies and national deep learning reforms in Indonesian schools
THE ANALYSIS OF THE STUDENTS’ PERCEPTIONS IN LEARNING ENGLISH STANDARDIZED TESTS TOWARDS THEIR LEARNING MOTIVATION
No full textIn present time, Learning English is crucial since it has become the language used by many people in the world. Beside should be learnt the people should also be able to measure their proficiency. Therefore, the Standardized tests are needed. The objective of this research is to explore the students’ perceptions in learning English Standardized tests (TOEFL, IELTS, & TOEIC) towards their learning motivation in 7th semester students of English Department Universitas Bandar Lampung. The approach used is qualitative approach. Descriptive and thematic analysis was used to conduct this research. I used questionnaire and interview to the 7th semester students in gathering the data about their perception in learning English Standardized tests towards their learning motivation. The results and discussion show that the findings of the present study revealed that overall, of the students’ perceptions in learning English Standardized tests are quite positive. Based on three themes used to categories the student’s perceptions, learning English Standardized tests involved positive impact to the student’s perception through promoting the students’ learning motivation whether it is intrinsic motivation or extrinsic motivation, challenging the students in the learning process and developing the students’ skills in the test’s performances and the English competencies
Enhancing Eleventh-Grade Student Speaking Skills: Implementing Project-Based Learning at SMAN 9 Bandar Lampung
Get PDFThis study aimed to investigate the impact of project-based learning on students' speaking abilities among eleventh-grade students at SMAN 9 Bandar Lampung. Employing a quantitative research approach with a two-group experimental design, the study conducted a series of five therapy sessions for the experimental group, while the control group received no treatment. Pre-test assessments were conducted to gauge students' skills prior to intervention. Data collection instruments were utilized for both pre-test and post-test evaluations. Following the administration of post-tests, data analysis revealed a significant improvement in students' speaking skills in the experimental class, with average scores rising from 61.48 to 68.26. In comparison, the control group exhibited an increase from an average pre-test score of 55.19 to 61.81 after intervention. Statistical analysis, with a t-value of 7.902 and a significance level of .000 (p < 0.05), indicated a distinct difference between the two groups, affirming the effectiveness of project-based learning.
