    Il teatro prima del teatro

    No full text

What influences sentiment analysis on social networks: A case study

Sentiment analysis, social networks analysis, and social media sensing are becoming important tools to extract meaningful information from text, adopted in several contexts, ranging from social interactions, touristic activities, shopping and e-commerce, to name a few. In particular, the current CoVid-19 quarantine the world is witnessing has shown the potential of such tools as a way to monitor and understand people's mood and feelings, in a time where people are resorting, more than ever, to social networks to engage and communicate with others. Indeed, when performing social network content analysis, privacy is a major concern. On the one hand, privacy issues and international laws and acts drive such analysis (e.g., GDPR), with the aim of protecting persons' privacy and security. On the other hand, these can limit somehow such activities. Hence, a precise and accurate identification of the strategies to adopt should be done to balance privacy issues and sentiment analysis activities. Taking into account the requirements of a Urban Innovation Action project, which is based on the active involvement of citizens, this work aims to describe limitations and potentialities of social networks monitoring and analysis to understand users' mood about the project actions adopted in the city of Ravenna (in Italy) to improve specific districts

A Close Look at Citizen Science Through the HCI Lens: A Systematic Literature Review

    No full text
In this paper, we present a systematic literature review of Citizen Science (CS) research projects with a focus on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and on the modalities in which CS is employed in this field. The query was conducted in March 2022 and provided us with 929 items, of which 646 were research articles. Through the usage of the PRISMA flow diagram, we included 27 papers in our survey. We aim to depict the state of the art regarding CS projects that are directly supported and explicitly defined by the HCI community. We compared the studies on variables like the field of interest and the impact area. We present the mutual interests of CS and HCI, the tools, and the methods that are employed to address these projects. Eventually, we conclude by pointing out some reflections on the value that can sprout from properly employed CS in HCI research

The journal Mobile Networks and Applications reflects the emerging symbiosis of portable computers and wireless networks, addressing the convergence of mobility, computing and information organization, access and management. In its special issues, the journal places an equal emphasis on various areas of nomadic computing, data management, related software and hardware technologies, and mobile user services, alongside more ‘classical’ topics in wireless and mobile networking. The journal documents practical and theoretical results which make a fundamental contribution

Can 360° VR and customization foster personal connections between tourists and locals? An experiment in the sharing economy and hospitality frame

Tourism and hospitality have shown to be one of the pioneering sectors in the sharing economy, taking advantages of a collaborative and peer-to-peer market model. In this context, we present ShareCities, a system that allows tourists to exploit a 360° virtual representation of locals' room, customized to include peculiar details related to the host's life/interests/hobbies. Using ShareCities, locals can publish information about themselves and about what to see and do in their locale, while visitors can browse authentic and unmediated information provided by locals, and use the platform to initiate a conversation with them. To evaluate our approach and verify if 360° VR and customization could foster personal connections and affinity, and, eventually, empathy, we carried out an experiment engaging 19 users, obtaining interesting results
