English Advice Manuals Online at Rutgers: A Partnership in a New Course Using Digital Books and Web Technology

    No full text
The authors’ experiences in launching a new course at Rutgers University is described. The new honors course resulted from a collaboration between the History Department and Rutgers University Libraries (RUL) in which academic instruction, a unique source of digital books, and web/internet technology were brought together to provide a new learning experience for undergraduates. Students used the Early English Books Online (EEBO) collection at RUL and were challenged to learn as much as possible in a single semester about some facet of early English advice manuals. The course objectives, technology platform, and student experiences are discussed. This is the authors' accepted version. Paul Rudolph. Bond Centre

The Bond Centre is one of the first big skyscrapers in Hong Kong. It is actually a twin towers complex very peculiar in the manner it relates to the urban space of the city. It unfolds Rudolph's ideas about the tall buildings and their link to the city. The author relates this building with other projects by Rudolph. In the last part Rudolph's ideas are compared with similar theories by Rem Koolhaas

Rudolph Fisher : An Annotated Bibliography

    No full text
Abstract created by repository to aid in discovery. This thesis project constitutes an exhaustive, annotated bibliography of an oft overlooked and too seldom referenced African American author of the Harlem Renaissance, Rudolph Fisher. This work is bibliographic in nature not biographic and careful note should be placed on the extensively researched source list. Prior to this project, “A Corrected Bibliography of Rudolph Fisher” by Leonard J. Deutsch in 1978 was the last attempt at correcting and updating the sources available regarding Fisher’s work. Since past attempts to gather substantiated and comprehensive bibliographic material have been rife with “errors, inaccuracies, inconsistencies, and omissions,” firsthand verification was utilized to accomplish the desired result - a bibliography that provides future researchers with an updated, accurate, and thorough listing of primary and secondary sources relating to Rudolph Fisher. The bibliography is divided into two major alphabetically arranged sections, primary and secondary sources. The primary source list includes long and short fiction, non-fiction, reviews (by Fisher), correspondence, and unpublished writings. The secondary source list includes critical articles, parts of books, unpublished criticism, reviews and notices, correspondence, biographies and death notices, and bibliographies. Annotations are designed to be as brief as possible while allowing for a user friendly aspect for future research. Of note, the researcher includes, aside from the bibliography proper, a chronology of Fisher’s publications as well as key events in his life and an outline of the bibliography itself.SUNY BrockportEnglishMaster of Arts (MA)English Master’s These

Phase Behaviour of Systems with Water, Oil and Non-ionic Surfactant (II)

    No full text
This report presents results and conclusions of the research project performed at the Laboratory of Applied Thermodynamics and Phase Equilibria of Delft University of Technology. The research was carried out in the period from December 1994 till March 1995. Since this report is a continuation of the work which was done during the period of April to October 1994, theoretical background and experimental procedures were described in the first report (Pedroso, 1994) and will not be repeated here. The ongoing Ph.D project of lr. S. Rudolph serves as a framework for this research. In this investigation the pressure influence on, and modelling of the phase behaviour of systems containing oil, water and non-ionic surfactant is studied. The phase behaviour of systems containing oil, water and non-ionic surfactants can be characterized using these experimental data. The characterization is an important base for the modelling of these systems.Applied SciencesApplied Thermodynamics and Phase Equilibri
