Are the Best Available Technologies the only viable for energy interventions in historical buildings?
No full textWorth aged buildings represent among the existing buildings a special case when it comes to their energy refurbishment. Current available technologies for building components, characterized by high level of thermal performances, unfortunately, are also characterized, not rarely, by limited compatibility with the architectural integrity of the building. In other words, the so-called Best Available Technologies that are effectively adopted to optimize the energy performances of buildings, in the case of aged buildings to which a certain artistic, historic and/or architectural merit is recognized (heritage houses) could, actually, determine such kind of conflicts and therefore leading to the selection of “noninvasive” but less performing building and plant elements. To check the effectiveness of these less performing technologies, we investigated the energy performance of two different refurbishment configurations of the building envelope of a heritage house: a “best available technology” scenario, in which interventions assumed consist of using the best available technology for energy saving; and an “allowed best technology” scenario, in which interventions assumed consist of using technologies that, although not the best available, are anyway “allowable” according to the cultural heritage preservation requisites and rules. A cost-based comparison between these configurations of the building envelope was also carried out.Results of this comparative analysis are reported in this paper

No full textQuesto articolo mostra i risultati di una indagine compiuta in ambiente scolastico e basata su un questionario di tipo adattivo,
mirata alla valutazione del microclima luminoso e del grado di soddisfazione dello stesso da parte degli utenti.
Attraverso simulazioni, sono state preventivamente individuate alcune aule all’interno della struttura scolastica, dove le
condizioni potevano risultare critiche, sia per il verificarsi di fenomeni di abbagliamento, che di non rispetto dei valori
consigliati dalla vigente normativa. La metodologia proposta prevede l’utilizzo di rilevamenti strumentali, di simulatori e la
somministrazione di un questionario agli studenti delle aule in oggetto.
Il questionario, basato sul modello adattivo, è stato articolato per il rilevamento di dati strettamente soggettivi (postazione
occupata, visus...) e di dati riguardanti l’ambiente e il rapporto degli utenti con esso (difficoltà nello svolgimento del compito
visivo, frequenza media annuale di utilizzo delle schermature, ecc...).
I risultati del questionario, mappati secondo rappresentazione cromatica sulle postazioni occupate, mostrano elevati gradi di
insoddisfazione, nonostante le misure strumentali abbiano riscontrato valori quantitativamente accettabili. Una ulteriore
simulazione, mostra la possibilità di interventi correttivi, non invasivi, per il controllo della illuminazione naturale, i cui
risultati mostrano un abbassamento quantitativo dei valori ottimali, ma un netto miglioramento qualitativo delle condizioni
luminose microclimatiche. Il processo sviluppato, che vede il confronto e l’integrazione tra metodologia tradizionale e
sperimentale, consente di valutare gli indici di scostamento che, risultano essere elevati per la totalità del tempo di occupazione
delle aule

in asset ratings of a building consists of entrusting
the energy analysis of the shell of a building to
calculating software.
The building is the subject of an extremely
complicated analysis, and there are many variables at
stake, is it more correct to aim for a simplification of
the problem, in the knowledge that behind every
analytical formula there is the possibility of an
evaluation error, or is it better to aim for calculation
models that are more and more detailed in an attempt
to succeed in predicting the real energy behaviour of
the building ?
Depending on the objective that has been set, it is a
good idea to identify the tool best adapted to reaching
it: it is not correct to use simplified calculation
methods for every analysis, but not correct to apply
dynamic simulation models unconditionally either.
