    No full text
During the first years of XIX century, there were many outstandins authors who defended the direct tax system which fitted better with the new liberal Constitution. This position was even further reinforced in the "Cádiz Cortes". Nevertheless, some others important atthors denied the possibility of setting up the new system in order to replace the old one. The later position began with Vicente Alcalá Galiano, continued with the debates in the Cortes Cádiz and, later on, with the works of Duaso, Pinilla and Plana to critizise the Decreto (Baill) of September, 13, 1813 on the New Public Taxes and it finished with several works by Cañedo in the second decade of the century. Ramón M. Cañedo will defend a tax system based on indirect taxes. He will based his arguments on Adam Smith in order to fit his tax principles to the system wich was better adapted to the economic and social conditions in Spain.Publicad

Baltazar Castro House, designed by the architect Celestino de Castro, was built between the years 1963 and 1965. Although the author is a well-known architect, his house is without explanation ignored, given that no reference of it in the historiography of the modern Portuguese architecture exists. In this brief text, I try to explain that this invisibility is incoherent with the intrinsic quality of the building. This is done by first analysing a set of key concerns and ideas, defined by certain authors, in the study of other architects (contemporaries of CC), such as: Fernandez on Loureiro, Moneo on Siza and Stirling and Stirling on Le Corbusier, and then using the same concerns and ideas for analysing Celestino de Castro house. This method of analysis led me to recognise the informed and cosmopolitan character of Celestino de Castro’ work and of his building in particular, since it was possible to identify on both the same key concerns and ideas. I highlight as the most significant characteristics of this house its unique and strong formal spatial expression, its volumetric complexity and the way it rediscovers a more intense relation with the ground level and the urban environment.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

A method for detecting the profile of an author

    No full text
This paper presents a method for detecting an author’s profile using the following two elements: gender and age. This is based on a set of dialogues, written in two languages: English and Spanish, provided for Author Profiling competence within the evaluation forum "Uncovering Plagiarism, Authorship, and Social Software Misuse" (PAN2018). Counts of lexical, semantic, and syntactic characteristics are used to generate a two-phase classification system, which first classifies gender and then age. The results obtained show that, with the amount of data available, it is possible to characterize both the age and gender of an author with an accuracy greater than 50%. However, these values could be improved by having more evidence of information in the training data.Silva, JesusGarcía, SilviaBinda, María AlejandraMarin Gonzalez, FredyBarrios, RosioLeon Castro, Bellani

A morphologic and biometric study has been carried out on the fossil remains of Suidae derived from the first phase of excavation (1980-1989) at the late Pleistocene paleontological site of Cueva del Camino near Pinilla del Valle, north of Madrid. The material consists in 47 remains belonging to a minimum of 6 individuals. The results allow identifying the presence of the wild boar Sus scrofa, whose anatomical characteristics are compared with material from various European Pleistocene sites as well as present-day specimens. From the material obtained is this first phase of excavation stands out several cranial remains, because they are very scarce in coeval European sites, and are not recorded so far in other Spanish sites. The record of Sus scrofa agrees with the palaeoecological and palaeoenvironmental inferences displayed by previous studies from the whole faunal assemblage of the Cueva del Camino site.

Genus LUPAEUS gen. nov. Cunaxoides — Baker & Hoffmann, 1948: 247 & figs. 94–97 Pulaeus — Den Heyer, 1981 b: 88 –96; Bu & Li 1991: 70 –73 Lupaeus — Kuznetsov & Livshits, 1979: 51 –105; Corpuz-Raros, 1996: 119 –138 Type species: Pulaeus martini Den Heyer, 1981 b Historical-taxonomic review. Berlese (1916) described Eupalus subterraneus without drawings. The three slide specimens on which he based his description are 174 / 27, 174 / 28 and 174 / 29; the first two are both marked ‘tipico’ and belong to the same species while the last one is broken apart. The two intact specimens in the Berlese Collection studied are related to the four species referred to in this paper. Baker & Hoffmann (1948) provided descriptions and drawings of a new species, viz., C. minutus. This species is regarded by the co-author as congeneric with the new genus Lupaeus. We are of opinion that, together with the indicated species in the key to this genus, the following are also new combinations: L. dentatus (Corpuz-Raros, 1996), L. filipinus (Corpuz-Raros, 1996), L. lenis (Corpuz-Raros, 1996), L. longisetus (Corpuz-Raros, 1996), L. polilloensis (Corpuz-Raros, 2007), L. platygnathus (Bu & Li, 1991), Lupaeus trepidus (Kuznetsov & Livshits, 1979) and L. villacarlosae (Corpuz-Raros, 1996). Etymology: The genus name is an anagram of the original name Eupalus, provided by Koch (1838), for a three-jointed cunaxid. Diagnosis of the genus Lupaeus. This genus can be distinguished from other genera of the tribe Pulaeini by the presence of tarsus I with depression distally positioned; basifemur IV with 1 sts; genital seta g 3 near outer margin of the genital valve; palp tibiotarsus with two- or three- pointed process.Published as part of Castro, Tatiane Marie Martins Gomes De & Heyer, Jacob Den, 2009, A revision of the genus Pulaeus Den Heyer, with descriptions of a new genus and four new Brazilian species (Acari: Prostigmata: Cunaxidae), pp. 20-36 in Zootaxa 2141 on page 28, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.18856
