No full textRicorre quest’anno il centenario della nascita dell'architetto razionalista comasco Ce-sare Cattaneo (1912-1943). Scomparso a soli 31 anni, Cattaneo ha lasciato un'impronta non dimenticata, tanto con le poche, ma qualificatissime opere realizzate (Asilo Garbagnati ad Asnago; Fontana di Camerlata; Casa d'affitto a Cernobbio; Palazzo dell’Unione Lavoratori dell'Industria a Como), quanto con i numerosi progetti che si distinguono per la singolare sperimentazione plastica, e con alcuni acutissimi saggi critici che lo hanno portato a teorizzare l’innovativo concetto di “polidimensionalità”.
Il libro è concepito attorno alla scelta di circa 160 schizzi e disegni autografi, che evidenziano come si forma il pensiero architettonico di Cesare Cattaneo, un pensiero caratterizzato da una forte tensione ideale. L’atto di disegnare rappresenta una vera e propria scrittura, nel senso della trascrizione grafica di un pensiero: molti schizzi evidenziano l’intensità e la velocità di un’attività progettuale che produce variazioni, ripensamenti, alternative talvolta radicali.
L’analogia tra schizzare e scrivere costituisce una specie di filo rosso del racconto visivo. I disegni, singoli o montati per serie, sono accompagnati da brevi testi didascalici che aiutano il lettore a decifrarne il significato specifico
