Kelly writes that General James Harrison Wilson is bringing Bayard a copy of Knickerbocker's History of New York by Washington Irving and illustrated by Felix Octavius Carr Darley. Kelly found the book at an old book stand and hopes Bayard will add it to his collection. Kelly also sends Bayard a copy of a quote from Irving's nephew Pierre Munroe Irving, regarding Darley's illustration of Diedrich Knickerbocker. Kelly suggests pasting the quote in the book
