SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT : A POLITICO - FINANCIAL OVERVIEW
Do Financial accounting practices as per the political setup and their administrative strategies, pose problems to the pace of Socio-economic development of any nation ? This paper addresses this question with a preview to the dawn of human civilizations on earth, and mathematically cumulating the thoughts of Socio-economic development in four facets, from Individual to National level. Different Financial Management Techniques are used under the two divergent political setups, namely the Capitalism and the Communism. A capitalist setup provides the freedom of corporate control under each individual entrepreneur or a corporate unit (I), under private or government control (G), to function as an autonomous body. using the "Return on Investment" as their motivating guideline. A communist setup represents a centralised approach through individual work contributions at micro level. Under this setup, the national demand is pre-assessed and fixed by the State. The financial management is taken care by the State Bank. Conclusion leads towards irrespective of the political setup, the Socio-economic development is a Three Dimensional Closed Cycle Economic process, namely Manpower as the Prime component, Materials and Techno-commercial infrastructure, in a preset Seven Sequential order. The inference is that the Cost and Quality of Domestic goods and services, decide the status of Socio- economic development. This directly depends upon the proper utilisation pattern of the three ingredients and the Productivity orientation of the Prime component (Manpower). The world experiences support the Closed Cycle Economic process. The inferences are supported with examples from Britain, Germany, India, Russia and USA. (The matter is supported with 4 Creative and Comprehensive Schematic Diagrams summarising the Financial Approaches of Capitalist/Communist setup, Closed Cycle Economics and the Productivity relationship of the Prime component Manpower, respectively. This Research Paper is based on a study survey by the Author to various countries functioning under different Political and Financial accounting Appraisal Techniques).Accounting System, Communist, Capitalist, Financial Methods, Infrastructure, Manpower, Materials, Information Systems, Political, Techno-commercial

A critical evaluation of Thomas Isidore Noel Sankara’s servant leadership style of government in Burkina-Faso
Many authors have written and documented this illustrious and selfless son of the African continent, highlighting his unique kind of leadership different from the one that the African continent has ever experienced for a generation. His style of leadership for four years (1983–1987) as president of Burkina Faso eclipsed several African despots and corrupt leaders before and after Thomas Sankara. This article has three purposes as follows: first, to explore and celebrate the short-lived life of Thomas Sankara, and his legacies. Second, to critically evaluate his solid leadership characteristics and achievements relating it to the economy; Political, social, health, while serving as the President of Burkina Faso. Third, to highlight some of his shortcomings with the view that current and future leaders of African countries can learn from such shortcomings. This study is informed by the post-colonial theories of Ali Mazrui and Frantz Fanon. The author makes the following interesting findings. First, Sankara may have met his demise because of his country’s foreign policy (Non- Aligned), his relentless anti-imperialist campaign. The author acknowledges the solid achievements, made during Sankara’s brief term in office, are inspirational in the psyche of African men and women of his generation. If there is anything the author and many admirers and well-wishers of Sankara would like to see, is that his murderers are all brought to justice. More importantly, there are several lessons or styles of governance for African leaders both at home and in the diaspora to learn from this great man Thomas Sankara
Development and validation of a coarse-grained model for the biocompatible polymer polycaprolactone
Polycaprolactone (PCL), is a biocompatible polyester with many applications towards the betterment of human health. The advent of superior computational power and novel simulation techniques such as coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations, enable the in-silico study of processes involving nano-polymeric materials over large spatio-temporal scales. In this study, a coarse-grained model for PCL was developed within the framework of the MARTINI coarse-grained (CG) force field. The non-bonded interactions were based on the existing MARTINI bead types, while the bonded interactions were mapped from the OPLS-UA/AA rendition of PCL. The developed model accurately reproduced the structural and dynamic properties of the PCL homopolymer, also showing reasonably good temperature and solvent transferability. We also studied the self-assembly of MePEG-b-PCL linear diblock copolymers using an existing MARTINI model for MePEG (Methoxy Polyethylene glycol), by analyzing the critical micelle concentration, as well as the shape, size and morphology of the nano-polymeric micelles. We obtained excellent agreement of the critical micelle concentration, while the size was under-predicted compared to experimental data.M.S.Includes bibliographical referencesby Abhinav Sankara Rama
Mediated Sankarism: Re-inventing a Historical Figure to Reimagine a Future
Thomas Sankara has contributed significantly to the formation of the modern national identity of post-independent Burkina Faso before his assassination in 1987. This essay used discourse analysis to examine the emergence of Thomas Sankara’s ideology also known as Sankarism (and his praxis?) in the Burkinabe public discourse. In the current socio-political context of a nascent democracy characterized by the emergence of active civil society movements and multiple political factions contesting the right to govern and claiming the capacity to provide a new direction to a country caught up amid local and global issues, the reinvention and re-appropriation of Sankarism call for an appropriate close examination. The author discussed different creative ways that Burkinabe media users are reinventing Sankara and Sankarism, to reimagine their future. The author contended that in Burkina Faso, new media provide multiple trajectories through which Sankarism is creatively re-invented to construct a national ethos and participate in the contested exercise of state-making.

Francophone African and Caribbean autobiographies : a comparative study
textThis dissertation is a comparative study of Francophone autobiographical
writing in Africa and in the Caribbean. Recent research on Autobiography has
focused on the differences between the Western and African productions but little
has been said about the practice of the genre in the Caribbean. Using the
theoretical background of Philippe Lejeune and James Olney as a point of
departure, I address the question of how, in their respective differences,
Francophone African and Caribbean autobiographies bring new perspectives to
the practice of the genre. The study is divided into six chapters focused on each
individual work by three autobiographers from Francophone Africa, Hampaté Bâ,
Kesso Barry and Valentin-Yves Mudimbé, and by three autobiographers from the
the French Caribbean, Raphaël Confiant, Patrick Chamoiseau and Maryse Condé.
My dissertation shows commonalities and differences in the way the two
Francophone groups write autobiography. While the theory of “Créolité” is
reflected in the self-narratives by Chamoiseau and Confiant, its unitarian vision is
contested in Condé. My research reveals that, despite the recourse to oral
tradition in an endeavor to write differently, African and Caribbean
autobiographies offer many divergences in identity questioning, race and the art
of writing autobiography. The variety of audiences, for whom the
autobiographers write, is problematized in my study where I suggest a limitation
of freedom of expression in these autobiographies in the “post-colonial” era, due
to the control of publishing houses. I also show that notions such as “colonial,”
“post-colonial” and “Feminism” are to be relativized when applied to
autobiographies in Francophone Africa and the French Caribbean.French and Italia
Linking urban waterbody health to citywide inclusive sanitation
Urban sanitation in developing countries requires systems thinking as there is a plethora different variables which can impact the delivery of adequate sanitation for the people. In the traditional sense, sanitation planning in urban cities focuses on keeping people away from human-waste related pathogens. As cities in India and several developing countries are growing at exponential rates, government agencies are struggling to provide adequate safe sanitation in their cities. In recent years, due to a range of factors such as increasing water stress, recreational needs and biodiversity protection in an urban fabric, urban waterbodies are deemed worthy of conservation. The objective of this research was to systematically understand urban sanitation and how it relates to urban waterbody health. Having understood the system adequately, the aim of the thesis was to answer the research question, can “Citywide Inclusive Sanitation as a planning approach aid in the betterment of urban waterbodies?”. The study adopted a mixed method which comprises of quantitative water quality testing in Kommaghatta lake in Bengaluru city, India and a qualitative analysis at the Bengaluru city level. It included elements of qualitative social research methods such as field observations, informal conversations and semi-structured interviews to answer the research questions. Water quality results and qualitative analysis suggests that there are three significant pollution pathways into Bengaluru lakes, each carrying different wastewater characteristics and pollution load. The predominant pathway for the pollution of waterbodies in the city is through the stormwater drainage. Additionally, sewer pipes and desludging trucks which dispose faecal waste from on-site sanitation systems also contribute to pollutant load entering into the lakes in the city. From the semi-structured interviews, a conceptual model of urban sanitation in Bengaluru city and how it relates to waterbodies was developed. From conducting a qualitative analysis, six major system levers were identified. They levers influence the dynamics of urban sanitation in Bengaluru and forms the basis for the pollution pathways that enter into the lake. They six major system levers for Bengaluru urban sanitation are: 1.Rapid urbanization 2.Fragmentation of government entities 3.Sewer infrastructure 4.Feacal sludge management 5.Treated water reuse 6.Citizen group involvement The study shows that CWIS principles have a significant relevance for solving urban sanitation issues which were identified through the system levers. In addition to solving urban sanitation issues which centres on public health matters, the study also shows that there is also an environmental case for CWIS by arresting waterbody pollution through the identified pollution pathways. Findings from this research can help to improve decision making in terms of urban sanitation by paying close attention to the cause-effect relationships between variables in the urban sanitation sphere and improve waterbody health in their cities
