Paul Edwards @ Aaron Gallery
Exhibit E was the title for a number of one person exhibitions at Galleries in the Dupont Circle area of Washington D.C. My show was at the Aaron Gallery, one of 11 Galleries in the city that participated in the project , showing the work of one artist from a European Country. Exhibit E received funding from the European Union and the British Council. The exhibition was widely publicised, including posters on the subway system. European Embassies were involved. The event, and individual shows were reviewed in American Press, including Washington Post. The show was supported financially by the EU and by the British Council. The British Council funded my shipping costs and paid for the Aaron Gallery private view, and the opening of Exhibit E was in the Italian embassy. The exhibition included an illustrated catalogue. I included twenty paintings in my show, several were completed in my studio, here in Lincoln, but most were made during a previous residency at the Virginia Centre for the Creative Arts in Virginia. My involvement came about through my ongoing research into the triangular relationship between making paintings, looking at existing paintings and looking at the visible world, a concern that continues to inform my drawing studio research at present.</p
