    "In these pages, I show some of the concerts given by national and international artists, who, in one way or another, were important to me. These pictures are dreams come true". In this way, Pata Torres (Montevideo, Uruguay) presents this series of pictures for dixit. The author is an arquitect by the University of the Republic and a photographer. For the past 10 years, she has covered, with her pictures, the music scene. Since october 2012, she is responsible for the photography of Yamp!, a web site dedicated to Uruguayan music. Previously, she worked for Freeway magazine and covered events such as "Fiesta de la X", "Pilsen Rock" and "Bicentenario Uruguay". The Cure, Green Day, Keane, Franz Ferdinand, among others, have been captured by her lense. After seeing the book of live music pictures En Vivo (Sudamericana, 2010), of which Pata Torres was a co-editor, Paul McCartney chose her as the official photographer of his recital and stay in MontevideoEn estas páginas hago una pequeña muestra de algunos recitales de artistas nacionales e internacionales que, de una u otra forma, fueron importantes para mí. [Estas fotos] son sueños cumplidos”. Así presenta Pata Torres (Montevideo, Uruguay) esta serie de fotografías para dixit. La autora es arquitecta por la Universidad de la República y fotógrafa. Desde hace 10 años se dedica al registro fotográfico de la escena musical. Desde octubre de 2012 es responsable de la fotografía de Yamp!, portal de música uruguaya; antes trabajó en la revista Freeway y estuvo al frente de la fotografía de eventos como “Fiesta de la X”, “Pilsen Rock” y “Bicentenerio Uruguay”. Por la lente de Pata Torres pasaron The Cure, Green Day, Keane, Franz Ferdinand y REM, entre otros. Luego de conocer el libro de fotografías de música En Vivo, coeditado por Pata Torres (Editorial Sudamericana, 2010), Paul McCartney la eligió como fotógrafa oficial de su estadía y recital en Montevideo.

    Miriam Makeba\u27s 1967 recording of "Pata Pata" represents the commercial apex of this iconic artist\u27s long career. For over forty years, the record has enjoyed a high profile, international popularity thanks to continual radio airplay, ongoing physical sales and more recently, internet downloads, both paid-for and unpaid. However, "Pata Pata" is not without its own historical and structural anomalies, for it is in fact a combination of two separate original melodies derived from two completely different sources. The first eight bar melodic phrase in "Pata Pata" comes directly from an earlier song entitled "Noma Kumnyama" (Zulu: "Even If It\u27s Dark") by the Dundee Wandering Singers, an mbube group led by Alson Novemu Mkhize

    Exponential attractors for a phase-field model with memory and quadratic nonlinearities

    We consider a phase-field system with memory effects. This model consists of an integrodifferential equation of parabolic type describing the evolution of the (relative) temperature θ, and depending on its past history. This equation is nonlinearly coupled through a function λ with a semilinear parabolic equation governing the order parameter χ. The state variables θ and χ are subject to Neumann homogeneous boundary conditions. Themodel becomes an infinite-dimensional dynamical system in asuitable phase-space by introducing an additional variable ηaccounting for the (integrated) past history of the temperature.The evolution of η is thus ruled by a first-order hyperbolicequation. Giorgi, Grasselli, and Pata proved that the obtaineddynamical system possesses a universal attractor A, which has finite fractal dimension provided that the coupling function λ is linear. Here we prove, as main result, the existence of an exponential attractor E which entails, in particular, that A has finite fractal dimension when λ is nonlinear with quadratic growth. Since the so-called squeezing property does not work in our framework, we cannot use the standard technique to construct E. Instead, we take advantage of a recent result due to Efendiev, Miranville, and Zelik. The present paper contains, to the best of our knowledge, the first example of exponential attractor for an infinite-dimensional dynamical system with memory effects. Also, the approach introduced here can be adapted to other dynamical systems with similar features

    The Traditional Game of Pata-Pata: Uncovering Physics Concepts and Their Application in School Learning

    Traditional games are a heritage that has existed since ancient times and has moral and scientific values. Along with the times, traditional games are played rarely by children in Maluku. This study aims to reveal the concept of physics in the traditional game of pata-pata in Wakal Village, Leihitu District, and its implementation to improve mastery of the material at SMA Negeri 18 Central Maluku. This research combines descriptive qualitative method to reveal the concept of physics and descriptive quantitative method to know the improvement of mastery of physics material in the traditional game of Pata-Pata. Data were collected through interviews, document study, test administration and observation of learning implementation. The data were then analyzed using qualitative descriptive and quantitative descriptive data analysis techniques using the N-Gain test. The results of data analysis show that the physics concepts revealed in traditional pata-pata games are bulk modulus, momentum, impulse, collision, sound, Boyle's law, and kinetic energy in the 2013 Curriculum and Merdeka Curriculum. The implementation of pata-pata games in learning the physics concepts of momentum, impulse, collision carried out using the CRT learning approach shows an increase in material mastery. A total of 60% of students experienced an increase in moderate qualifications and 30% of students in low qualifications. The average score of material mastery improvement is 0.21
