On sinc quadrature approximations of fractional powers of regularly accretive operators

    No full text
Abstract We consider the finite element approximation of fractional powers of regularly accretive operators via the Dunford–Taylor integral approach. We use a sinc quadrature scheme to approximate the Balakrishnan representation of the negative powers of the operator as well as its finite element approximation. We improve the exponentially convergent error estimates from [A. Bonito and J. E. Pasciak, IMA J. Numer. Anal., 37 (2016), No. 3, 1245–1273] by reducing the regularity required on the data. Numerical experiments illustrating the new theory are provided.</jats:p

Analysis of Finite Element Approximation and Iterative Methods for Time-Dependent Maxwell Problems. (August 2002) Jun Zhao, B.S., Nanjing University, China; M.S., Chinese Academy of Science Chair of Advisory Committee: Dr. Joseph E. Pasciak In this dissertation we are concerned with the analysis of the finite element method for the time-dependent Maxwell interface problem when Nedelec and RaviartThomas finite elements are employed and preconditioning of the resulting linear system when implicit time schemes are used

Deutch, outlining "the thinking of our group concerning work we might to with students who are being evacuated and who wish to continue their studies."Personal correspondence, organizational records, government documents, publications, and other papers created or collected by Joseph R. Goodman documenting the forced removal and incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II, as well as organized resistance to incarceration. Included in the collection are records of the Japanese Young Men's Christian Association and the Japanese American Citizens' League in San Francisco, including papers of the Japanese YMCA's executive secretary Lincoln Kanai; Sakai family papers; Goodman's correspondence to and from Japanese American incarcerees, organizations opposing forced removal and incarceration of Japanese Americans, the War Relocation Authority, and others; publications, photographs, and ephemera from the Topaz Relocation Center, where Goodman taught high school; War Relocation Authority records and publications; and newspaper clippings, pamphlets, and reports about forced removal and incarceration created by various government, religious, and civic organizations, in California and nationwide
