The role of repositories in data curation / Jessica Branco Colati
Presented at the CI days: cyberinfrastructure in the Rockies - a human centered approach held on August 13, 2010, at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado. This conference brought together librarians, IT staff, and faculty members from institutions in Colorado to explore cyberinfrastructure needs in academic/research environments and the topic of "Open Access" to information as it contributes to the formation of effective cyberinfrastructure. Funded as part of the nation-wide Cyberinfrastructure days initiative, the event was Sponsored by the Colorado State University Libraries, Colorado State University Information Science and Technology Committee (ISTeC), and Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries.Mary Marlino is affiliated with National Center for Atmospheric Research. The Convergent Validity of the Jebsen Hand Function Test and Perdue Pegboard Test in Adults With Schizophrenia
Abstract
Date Presented 3/31/2017
This study examines the use of a performance-based assessment to detect functional hand deficits in persons with schizophrenia. The Jebsen Hand Function Test may have value as an objective measure of hand function in this population, allowing occupational therapists to provide more comprehensive treatment.

Content Analysis of Discourse in the Novels: Iranian Dawn and Love and the Incomplete Woman
Bakhtin, one of the leading literary theorists of the twentieth century, has been focused on novel among all forms of prose. Dialogism is one of the basic concepts of Bakhtin’s theories. According to him, the novel is a field of manifestation of various voices that generate meaning and value in relation to each other. Understanding these voices reveals new hidden layers of text. Bakhtin calls this multi-voiced reality “polyphony”, which represents the ideology and mentality of the speaker. Therefore, in this research, with the help of qualitative analysis and library studies, two novels by Amirhassan Cheheltan, Iranian Dawn and Love and the Incomplete Woman, are analyzed with a dialogic approach, regarding their components of dialogism such as stylization, observing the appropriate language of the characters, the combination of voices, intertextuality, grotesque, open ending, and uncertainty. The present paper concludes that the author’s use of several discourses in Iranian Dawn and Love and the Incomplete Woman has given them a polyphonic character. In fact, the author has been successful in presenting the content of his stories in a dialogical context with the high frequency of using these elements of dialogism, and he has strengthened polyphony in these two novel
Internet technologies relevant to private investigators’ working practices
Much has been written and discussed especially in the various US media and in legislative organs, about how the Internet is used illegally (hacking, stalking for instance), but hardly if any research has been done as to how the investigative industry employs the new medium to its benefit. The author described in this thesis how private investigators (PIs) execute their profession these days using the facilities the Internet avail them in contrast to the time before the dawn of the Internet. This contrast is also investigated in an international context, an important part of the thesis, drawn from the author's 32 years of international business experience and that of PIs worldwide. The availability of the various online facilities in different countries are compared. To better understand the new medium, and its facilities a short outline of the Internet’s history, it’s set up in general and for the use of PIs in particular is supplied. PIs also face limitations in their daily work, limitations originating from online, legal, educational, financial and international causes. The new medium not only helps PIs in their investigative, but also in their office work. Finally PIs' wishes for new tools to facilitate their daily investigative work and their outlook as to where the new medium will head are also discussed

Endovascular treatment in patients with acute ischemic stroke presenting beyond 6 h after symptom onset : An international multicenter cohort study of the EVA-TRISP collaboration
Introduction: After positive findings in clinical trials the time window for endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) for patients with an acute ischemic stroke has been expanded up to 24 h from symptom onset or last seen well (LSW). We aimed to compare EVT patients’ characteristics and outcomes in the early versus extended time window and to compare outcomes with the DAWN and DEFUSE 3 trial results. Patients and methods: Consecutive EVT patients from 16 mostly European comprehensive stroke centers from the EVA-TRISP cohort were included. We compared rates of 90-day good functional outcomes (Modified Rankin Scale 0–2), symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH), and 90-day mortality between patients treated in the early (<6 h after onset or LSW) versus extended (6–24 h after onset or LSW) time windows. Results: We included 9313 patients, of which 6876 were treated in the early and 2437 in the extended time window. National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score at presentation was lower in patients treated in the extended time window (median 13 [IQR 7–18] vs 15 [IQR 9–19], p < 0.001). The percentage of patients with good functional outcome was slightly lower in the extended time window (37.4% vs 42.2%, p < 0.001). However, rates of successful recanalization, sICH, and mortality were similar. Good functional outcome rates after EVT were slightly lower for patients in the extended window in the EVA-TRISP cohort as compared to DAWN and DEFUSE 3. Discussion and conclusion: According to this large multicenter cohort study reflecting daily clinical practice, EVT use in the extended time window appears safe and effective.Peer reviewe
