Maternal perception of emotional expressiveness. A cross-cultural comparison

    No full text
The parents' perception of children is a crucial aspect involving the relationship between caregiver and children (Stern, 2007) that represents an important area of investigation during the clinical assessment in developmental age. Although maternal perception is conceived as a mixture of objective and subjective judgments (Regan et al., 1974; Taylor e Koivumaki, 1976; Goldberg, 1981), influenced by multiple factors, such as the personal experience with the baby and parents' own personality, little is known about the influence of the cultural context. The present research explored the cultural influence on the parental perspectives by means of a cross-cultural approach. In particular, this study investigated parents' perception of different ethnic groups and compared them with the direct emotional expression of children. Participants were 165 mothers and 165 children, aged between 6 and 18 years, divided in three samples: Italians, African and Latin-American. Parents' perception was measured by means of the Child Behavior Checklist (Achenbach, 1991), whereas children emotional expression was derived by spontaneous narratives to the Roberts-2 (Roberts e Gruber, 2005). Results showed cultural differences in CBCL profile, related to the ethnic group and to gender, as well as in the emotions expressed in the test Robert-2

Interactive dynamics among therapist interventions, therapeutic alliance and metacognition in the early stages of the psychotherapeutic process †

Clinical or Methodological Significance of this article: From a methodological standpoint, the originality of the present study lies in the combination of an interactionist approach, which conceives process factors as interrelated dimensions interacting in non-additive and often nonlinear ways, with analyses at both micro- and macro-analytic levels (i.e., sequential and mediation analyses). From a theoretical standpoint, findings of the present study indicate that specific therapist's interventions are related to specific levels of the therapeutic alliance (i.e., positive, neutral and negative), hence providing crucial insights into the clinical understanding of the psychotherapy process

'Come meglio credi'. Conoscenza tacita e innovazione nel distretto del legno-arredo della Brianza

The article introduces a case of innovation, that took place in the Brianza wood and furniture industrial district, during the course of interaction between two craftsmen with materials, prototypes, rendering and a product manager from a relevant furniture design company based in the very district. Through a detailed description of these interactions, taking into account their corporal and sensitive features, authors want to show how tacit knowledge is deployed within the interorganisational relations and how this process can lead to innovation. The adoption of an Actor-network theory approach leads authors to consider not how knowledge circulates within a network, but rather how knowledge emerges, reverberates and transforms through the very rearticulating process of the network. It has been possible to show such dynamic thanks to the fact that not only relations among different interorganisational actors, but also the "network within" certain actors - the two craftsmen and the pieces on which they worked - have been taken into account

La programmazione della presa in carico di Giovani adulti: Un contributo tramite il test di Rorschach valutato con il Sistema Comprensivo di Exner [Programming in taking charge of young adult people: A contribution through the Rorschach test with the comprehensive system of Exner]

The Rorschach test provides useful information to identify personality traits, which result more difficult to derive from direct observation and contact with the patient, in order to improve diagnostic evaluation and treatment planning. The aim of our paper is to highlight the Rorschach Comprehensive System Indexes that characterize the psychological functioning of a group of college students, referred to a University Clinical Service, in order to foster the planning of their treatment. The methodology consisted in the analysis of the Rorschach protocols of 15 students aged 19 - 27 yr (9 female, 6 males). The Rorschach test was administered before a psychological treatment for academic and interpersonal difficulties, anxiety, sadness, self-confidence, self-esteem, and sexual disfunctioning. Results show a students' profile of individuals in overwhelmed state that impairs their ideational and affective available resources. Self-perception and interpersonal areas show some immaturity and narcissistic traits. Therefore, the relational dimension was considered as a starting point for the treatment, offering a psychological space for the working through of interpersonal representations
