No full textNell’opera di Benjamin Constant (1767-1830), gli scritti relativi alla storia occupano un posto secondario, ma tutt’altro che irrilevante. La storia fu per lui un terreno di ricerca e di riflessione permanente. Nel vivace panorama degli studi recenti, la storia è parsa infatti un elemento ineludibile e, allo stesso tempo, di problematica collocazione nell’orizzonte di pensiero di Constant. La storia come serbatoio di esempi, come illusione della perfettibilità, come modalità di meditazione sulla politica, sono tutti aspetti effettivamente presenti negli scritti di Constant relativi alla storia, ma
che forse non bastano, se presi isolatamente, a restituirne il significato complessivo. Occorre dunque considerare tali scritti nell'insieme e nelle loro relazioni, in modo tale che possano illuminarsi a vicenda

No full textAmong the common interpretations of Durkheim’s works that need to be
rethought, there is also the issue regarding the epistemological collocation of his sociology and its relationship with other disciplines. Durkheim often adopted an offensive strategy by criticising
the methodological and cognitive principles of the other disciplines or
even claiming their subordination to sociology: a strategy that was considered by his contemporaries as a form of “sociological imperialism”. However, it is important to remember that the reality is more complex than it may seem. Durkheim’s own research, as well as the Durkheimians’ one, thrived on the dialogue with other disciplines, from law to economy, from anthropology to psychology and history of religion. Sociology gained not only facts and materials, but also concepts and models of explanations from these disciplines
