MABS validation through repeated execution and data mining analysis

Agent Based Modelling is the most interesting and advanced approach for simulating a complex system: in a social context, the single parts and the whole are often very hard to describe in detail. Besides, there are agent based formalisms which allow to study the emergency of social behaviour with the creation and study of models, known as artificial societies. Thanks to the ever increasing computational power, it's been possible to use such models to create software, based on intelligent agents, which aggregate behaviour is complex and difficult to predict, and can be used in open and distributed systems. Data mining is born in the last decades in order to help users in finding useful knowledge from the otherwise overwhelming amount of data available nowadays from the web and the data collected every day by companies. Data Mining techniques can therefore be the keystone to reveal non-trivial knowledge expressed by the initial assumption used to build the micro-level of the model and the structure of the society of agents that emerged from the simulation

    Zarlino e l'astronomia

During the Renaissance astronomy was not only considered a branch of mathematics dedicated to the study of the motion of celestial bodies, but was also charged with symbolic and philosophical implications. Like the method applied in his Istitutioni harmoniche, Zarlino’s astronomical interests follow the double path of speculative thinking, intrinsically linked to scholarly aspects, and practical application, as it happens in his original essay on the reform of the Julian calendar (1583). The study of these writings, alongside the reconsideration of the astronomical digressions included in his major works, allows us to outline a more complete picture of a scholar who – as Bernardino Baldi emphasized at the end of the sixteenth century – was an excellent musician and an expert in mathematics and philosophy as well. Through this approach, new aspects in Zarlino’s musical doctrine will be highlighted

Crystal Structure and Spectroscopic Analysis of Melamine Hydrobromide. Evidence for iso-Melamine Cations and Charge-Transfer Complexes in the Solid State

    No full text
The crystal structure and vibrational analyses of melamine hydrobromide by FTIR and FT- Raman spectra, are presented. The crystallographic data show π-electron delocalization towards the amino substituents with ring nitrogen protonation in the solid state. Additionally, the presence of intermolecular hydrogen bonding interactions occurring between amino substituents and ring nitrogen lone-pairs gives rise to charge-transfer complexes, as demonstrated by UV-VIS reflectance in the solid state. FTIR and FT-Raman spectra allow the assignments of the vibrational modes in melamine hydrobromide by comparison with the corresponding deuteriated molecules, and show the existence of iso-melamine cations in the solid state
