Il 1914 di Boris Akunin
After a brief review of Russian Literature devoted to World War I, the author takes into account the novel Černyj Gorod (The black city) by well-known author Boris Akunin (pen name of Grigorij Šalvovič Čhartišvili), whose literary production can be situated between highbrow and mass literature. In this relatively new (for Russia) area of 'middle literature' Akunin combines classic tradition with detective narrative. In his work he employs 'history' to reconsider the present; particularly in Černyj Gorod the author uses the past – as it is perceived by his hero, Erast Petrovič Fandorin – to reflect on the present. By highlighting the political situation of Russia immediately before World War I, Akunin induces the reader to find political analogies with the current condition of the country

References to pre-revolutionary, revolutionary and Stalinist Russia are numerous in the fifth and last part of 2666 by Roberto Bolaño. The author himself declared it, shortly before his death, in the last interview he gave to Andrés Gómez in July 2003. The purpose of our article is to reconstruct Bolaño’s Russia in a space-time perspective and, first of all, to outline Russian cultural and literary dimension. We shall therefore try to trace in the text the innumerable references –which in the text are more or less clear and explicit– to those Russian works and authors who have marked the past centuries and contributed to the creation of the composite Bolañan universe as it emerges from the pages of his last great work

Postmodernismi a confronto
Stemming from the Polish Literature after 1989 Forum - published in “Studi Slavistici”, 2007, IV -, this brief contribution aims at pointing out some general critical observations concerning the application of the term "postmodernism", with particular reference to its use in the postsoviet space. Proceeding from the analysis of some similarities there occuring in the “development” of Polish and Russian literatures of the period taken into consideration, the author suggests that the results of specific internal processes cross national boundaries, deserving therefore further investigation in the Slavic area

Divagazioni attorno al roseau pensant pascaliano: The thinking reed di Rebecca West e Mysljaščij trostnik di Nina Berberova
Through an analysis of the works The thinking reed by Rebecca West and Mysljascij trostnik by Nina Berberova, the author aims to reveal the two writers’ common pattern; if, on the one hand The thinking reed raises the question of gender equality in society, on the other Mysljascij trostnik is clearly a woman’s claim on the dignity of human beings. The author suggests that the choice of the same title (the Russian mysljascij trostnik means exactly ‘thinking reed’ in English) recalls Blaise Pascal’s well- known Think . If this is out of the question regarding West, even in Berberova’s short novel, whose title has always been thought to be derived from Tjutcev’s famous poem Est in arundineis modulatio musica ripis, (in which the poet re-elaborates the subject of the French philosopher’s pensée), one cannot avoid linking it to an immediate suggestion drawn from Pascal
Al crocevia dei due millenni. Viaggio nella letteratura russa contemporanea
L’autrice propone al lettore un itinerario ragionato nel panorama della prosa russa dagli anni ’90 del secolo scorso a oggi. Da Konstantin Vaginov a Saša Sokolov, da Aleksandr Vvedenskij a Lev Rubinštejn, da Dmitrij Furmanov a Viktor Pelevin, per giungere sino al sequel dei Guardiani di Sergej Luk’janenko, il percorso si snoda lungo un asse cronologico virtuale che va dal modernismo al postmodernismo, dalla letteratura “alta” ai nuovi fenomeni di massa quali la fantasy russa.
