No full textIn occasione delle celebrazioni del centenario di Roma capitale (1871-1971), Dolores Prato voleva dar seguito al suo desiderio, fortissimo, di esprimere un punto di vista in controtendenza rispetto alla imperante storiografia risorgimentale. Scrisse frammenti, appunti, riflessioni preparatori a un pamphlet, Voce fuori coro, che però nessun editore si dichiarò disposto a pubblicare. Quegli scritti, che oggi vedono finalmente la luce, mostrano la non comune capacità della scrittrice di sottrarsi alle lusinghe di una memoria forzatamente condivisa sul destino della città eterna, e denunciano le trasformazioni e distruzioni subite dalla città nel suo divenire capitale del nuovo Regno. L’approccio critico di Polci tiene costantemente presente l’intera opera letteraria e giornalistica della scrittrice, ripercorrendo anche le tappe della sua vita e indagandone i rapporti con i maggiori protagonisti culturali dell’epoca, nel tentativo di restituire la giusta attenzione a una delle voci più limpide del Novecento

No full textOn the occasion of the first centenary celebrations of Rome as the Italian capital (1971), Dolores Prato went further into the history, the urban landscape and traditions of Rome, with special attention to the transformations and destructions – a real “murder” – suffered by the city since it became the capital of the Kingdom of Italy, passing through the Fascist rhetoric and the consolidation of industrial capitalism. She expressed her views in articles published between 1950 and 1970 on Paese Sera, a newspaper that sympathized with the Italian Communist Party, and in a considerable amount of notes, sketches, images written for Voce fuori coro, an unpublished pamphlet in contrast with the mainstream hi- storiography of the Risorgimento. What emerges is an anti-myth of the capital and, at the same time, a narrative of a popular city of small hidden miracles, born to be a metropolis of the catholic world rather than the capital of a national state

No full textLa penetrante sollecitudine con la quale Dolores Prato ha descritto e rivissuto nella sua opera la piccola città, Treia, nella quale aveva trascorso l’infanzia costituisse, oltre che un monumento della letteratura italiana, anche un'efficace metafora del moto costante tra capitale e province che ha a lungo caratterizzato le relazioni tra Roma e la sua periferia
orientale, costruendo spazi, legami, carriere, poteri e assetto urbano. E dunque: paesaggio, urbanizzazione, cultura.
Si tratta di un approccio originale a un tema apparentemente scontato (il rapporto tra centro e periferia), ma anche di un tentativo di collaborazione interdisciplinare cui la storia, che per «Proposte e ricerche» costituisce il punto di riferimento principale, è comunque chiamata dal suo rinnovato statuto epistemologico.
Si tratta della riproposizione di un tema affascinante di storia urbana e sociale: vale a dire il rapporto tra città grandi e città piccole nel contesto nazionale, e, in questo caso, in un’area infranazionale particolarmente significativa e forse da rivalorizzare sotto la specie della sua elaborata civiltà urbana, talvolta sottomessa, negli studi, alle esigenze di quella agricola

No full textSocial media can provide strong opposition to traditional cultural values and to the preconceived portrayal of women in mass media . The objective of this study was to analyse the way in which digital platforms can lead to the social emergence of certain issues and to examine the cumulative effect produced online through these channels. Are these platforms able to create online communities and inspire positive circles of information, sharing, and participation? What are the ways through which such themes have undergone an educational transformation with regard to related communities?
The primary objective was to investigate how these interactive tools contribute to the formation of a collective conscience, considering the dimensions ‘memory’, ‘reflection’ and ‘action’ The study also investigated the opportunities for education and training available on the Internet, for a more proactive critical reflection on the issue

No full textThis paper examines the role of social research and communication methodologies in fostering substantive democratic participation and policy co-production within the context of urban regeneration initiatives anchored in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This research critically analyzes the “becoming public” of sociology and social research in participatory design processes related to traditional urban planning instruments at the local scale (Regulatory Plans) in the Italian context, specifically through the case study of the Municipality of Appignano. It questions the role of sociology in activating a competent public sphere and promoting deliberative democracy at urban and territorial design levels and whether we can identify the traits of public sociology in facilitating the different stages of these processes. This paper details a participatory process in Appignano that sought to innovate urban regeneration within complex legislative frameworks, emphasizing community engagement and interdisciplinary approaches. The findings reveal a community actively participating in the regeneration process, demonstrating a high level of agreement on various urban development strategies aimed at sustainability. This study underscores the capacity of public sociology to facilitate public debate and democratic dialogue and suggests that such participatory approaches can significantly contribute to sustainable and resilient urban development, highlighting the potential of sociology as a moral and political force in urban planning
Social Media and Gender Violence: Communication Strategies for a “New Education”
No full textThis study investigates the role of social media in cultural awarenessraising and engagement in the struggle against gender violence. The study was conducted using a quantitative/qualitative analysis approach of around 20 Italian social websites-platforms-pages dealing with the phenomenon of femicide. The analysis considers three main indicators: presence of Web spaces for awarenessraising (e.g. advertising campaigns, contest); the existence of Web channels and participatory tools targeting the achievement of shared objectives and projects (e.g. signatures, online petitions); activation of online educational courses (e.g. information-based pages on the themes and terms of gender-based violence, creation of “pedagogical” and comparative spaces). The study sought to detect the extent to which the opportunities offered by new technologies in terms of social channel use, the viral spread of messages, and even the capacity to create new spaces for shared reflection, actually have an educational/pedagogical purpose rather than a merely awareness-raising or mobilization function
