La rifondazione di Genazzano ai tempi di Martino V
No full textNel clima di rinascita dopo il Grande Scisma sono da inquadrare anche gli interventi promossi da papa Martino V nella sua città natale, Genazzano. Qui, nel terzo decennio del Quattrocento, il papa Colonna nella veste di pater familias intraprende per gradi la rifondazione del borgo, dapprima ricostruendo la collegiata di San Nicola e il castello baronale, quindi migliorando il tessuto urbano e il patrimonio edilizio ad uso abitativo. Benché la trasformazione gotica di Genazzano in una “citta ideale” resterà incompiuta, la memoria di tale operazione avrà maggiore fortuna, divenendo punto di riferimento per altre iniziative similari, tra cui la Pienza di Pio II Piccolomini.
The interventions promoted by Pope Martin V in his hometown, Genazzano, belong to the political climate of rebirth after the Great Schism. Here, in the third decade of the fifteenth century, the pope Colonna like a paterfamilias undertakes by degrees the refoundation of the village, first reconstructing the collegiate church of St. Nicholas and the baronial castle, then improving the town planning and the real estate. Although the Gothic transformation of Genazzano in an "ideal city" will remain unfinished, his memory will have luck, becoming a benchmark for other similar initiatives, in particular Pope Pius II Piccolomini's Pienza
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
No full textWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. An integrated approach for assessing sustainability of categories of industrial activities referring to air pollution based criteria
No full textIn 1987, the Brundtland Report (WCED 1987) initiated the concept of sustainability and its
evaluation in engineering field has become a significant issue since it is very difficult to evaluate the
performance of industrial assets due to nature and number of traditional and sustainability indicators. The
paper presents a method to classify sustainability of different industrial plants according to the Integrated
Pollution and Prevention Control (IPPC), the strategy individuated from European Union to reduce pollution of
industrial sites which have high environmental impact. The basic of the proposed approach consists in
defining a Multi Criteria Decision Making Approach (MCDA) able to cope with a general set of sustainability
indicators. The approach integrates a three levels Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) model, where different
specific data analysis and management techniques can be integrated in order to properly face different nature
of available data, with a further advanced analysis based on a sustainability Index considered in current
literature by Diaz-Balteiro & Romero (2004). The alternatives, 6 categories of IPPC activities located in
Apulia (ITALY), appear at the lowest level of the hierarchy. At the second level 14 Criteria consisting in
different air pollutants have been considered. The AHP results show the incidence of each IPPC category on
the final sustainability referring to a less is better indicator. The following sensitivity analysis allows decision
makers to evaluate effects due to variation of subjective importance that the different criteria considered
induce on overall systems sustainability. the sensibility analysis performed in this work, playing on relative
comparison of “most balanced performance” versus “most sustainable” solution may allow decision maker
the choice of optimal solution to the sustainability problem faced
