Title: Sardinian word formation
This is the first systematic work on the formation of words in Sardinian after M. L. Wagner’s publication of 1952. The topic is dealt with both diachronically and synchronically according to the latest theoretical and descriptive techniques of contemporary morphology. The work provides a reference tool not only for linguists, Romance philologists and dialectologists but also for anyone working in the field of linguistic planning. It is also a useful reference text for teachers or anyone interested in furthering their knowledge of the lexicon and derivative morphology of Sardinian. The text has 10 chapters: 1. Introduction; 2.Composition; 3. Suffixation; 4. Prefixation; 5. Defective Circumfixation; 6. Conversion; 7. Retroformation; 8. Inherited stratum forms; 9. Exogenous formation; 10. Conclusions and research prospects
Derivative prefixes in the Sardinian language
This paper applies the word-based model to the description of the Sardinian prefixes. There are cases in which neither a morphematic segmentation nor a single lexeme or word can explain a morphological analysis. Consequently, a comparison between sets of words which have morphological features in common and which are also pertinent, may be better. In particular, an unusual phenomenon has been found: the Sardinian in- prefix present only the semantic value of “spatial-conceptual” and there is no evidence of the vlue of “negation”. On the contrary, other Romance languages show both values
