A prima vista Vico sembra descrivere poesia e filosofia in maniera del tutto opposta, governate da due facoltà conoscitive diverse e appartenenti a due differenti ordini cognitivi. Tuttavia, esaminando in profondità i testi vichiani, soprattutto sul tema del linguaggio, si riesce a impostare la relazione tra i due ambiti non in termini di rigida opposizione e conflitto ma di correlazione e connessione
