    Many varieties of peaches and nectarines grown in South Italy regularly shed a part, or occasionally, all of their flower buds following mild winters. When such a loss of flower buds is moderate in amount, it can be a benefit since it serves an early thinning. However, when the bud drop exceeds 75 per cent of the flower buds on a tree, a serious reduction in crop is likely. In order to evaluate the flower bud drop and productivity, observations were performed for three years (2004-2007) on the following varieties: Rich May, Royal Gem, Big Bang, Adriana, Laura, Ambra and Big Top
