Mechanisms mediating somatostatin-induced reduction of cytosolic free calcium in PC12 cells
No full textIn PC12 cells, somatostatin (SRIF) decreases the Ca21 in ̄ux in response to high K1 through the inhibition of voltagedependent
Ca21 channels. In the present study, we measured the intracellular Ca21 concentration ( [Ca21]i) following the
application of SRIF-14 or its analogues which bind to different SRIF subtype (sst) receptors. Their application differentially
reduces [Ca21]i (octreotide . SRIF-14 . CGP23996 . BIM23056) in a dose-dependent manner. Pretreatment with a
SRIF antagonist prevents the SRIF-induced inhibition of [Ca21]i. These results suggest the involvement of speci®c
membrane receptors and are in line with recent ®ndings indicating the presence of receptor mRNAs on PC12 cells.
Our results also exclude the possibility that SRIF interacts with opioid receptors and suggest that the SRIF-induced
inhibition of [Ca21]i is mediated by mechanisms involving PTX-sensitive G-proteins and PK-dependent pathways

Of the first Traina-Norell collection, Bonwit Teller declared in Vogue, "The House of Traina-Norell comes on the season like an electrical storm. Its designer, young Mr. Norell, creates a collection so alive that everyone's talking" (Vogue, 1 October 1941, p. 5). Women purchasing a Traina-Norell garment were buying, at great cost, an American-made status symbol that would likely remain in their closets for decades. The high-class status of a Traina-Norell dress is invoked in the 1957 film Sweet Smell of Success

No full textA partire dai documenti inediti conservati nel Fondo Revisione Teatrale dell’Archivio Centrale dello Stato, la tesi affronta un tema poco frequentato dalla critica: la censura in Italia nel secondo dopoguerra. Il primo capitolo è dedicato alle leggi che hanno regolato la censura dall’Unità d’Italia fino agli anni Sessanta del Novecento: oltre alla censura editoriale e teatrale, non è stata trascurata quella che coinvolse il cinema, la radio e la televisione; accanto alla censura civile, è stata presa in considerazione anche quella vaticana. Nel secondo e nel terzo capitolo vengono analizzati due casi di studio per certi versi opposti e complementari: il siciliano Vitaliano Brancati e il lombardo Giovanni Testori, dei quali viene ripercorsa la censura delle opere sottoposte a revisione. Seguono sei appendici, quattro delle quali riguardano il fenomeno censorio nella sua complessità: un prospetto di 208 copioni non approvati, l’elenco di tutte le opere sottoposte a censura da parte di cinque autori scelti (Bassani, Brancati, Pasolini, Moravia e Testori), l’inventario parziale del Fondo Revisione Teatrale e un prospetto della censura di alcune opere cinematografiche interessanti da un punto di vista letterario (approntato sfruttando il database Italia taglia). Infine, è stata allestita l’edizione di tutti i documenti afferenti alla censura di Vitaliano Brancati conservati nel Fondo Revisione Teatrale e l’edizione degli otto copioni de L’Arialda conservati in Archivio, che attestano le tre distinte redazioni della commedia sottoposte agli uffici governativi

Education Technology for Students with ADHD in Secondary School: Preliminary Results of a Single-Case Study
No full textThis paper presents preliminary findings from a single-case study investi-gating inclusive learning through an education technology addressed to students with Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) en-rolled in upper secondary schools. The study’s objective was to explore the potential of technology to mitigate challenging behaviors and enhance at-tention, collaboration, and self-control among students with ADHD. Fur-thermore, the study concentrated on the impact of learning coding through the education platform, encompassing the development of positive social and relational skills. The methodology employed is grounded in natural-istic observations and qualitative data analysis. While the data collection process continues, certain intriguing outcomes emerged from interactions with teachers and students involved, suggesting potential future research directions on the application of education technology to students with ADHD
