Metalladiazamacrocycles: Metallamacrocycles as potential supramolecular host system for small organic guest molecules and supramolecular building blocks for metal organic frameworks

    No full text
Metalladiazamacrocycles, coordination driven potential supramolecular host systems, can be obtained via cyclic linkages of the metal ions and the bridging ligands, N-acylsalicylhydrazides. The nuclearity and the shape of the metallamacrocycles could be modulated by controlling the steric interactions caused by N-acyl tails of the ligands. The macrocycles could be utilized for recognition of small organic guest molecules using their hydrophobicity/hydrophilicity, the size and shape/symmetry of the cavities. In addition, these macrocycles can be used as the supramolecular building blocks for the construction of systematically tuned metal-organic frameworks since these clusters have several replaceable solvent sites which could serve as connecting nodes for the formaton of network structures.close201

    Hybrid lunar inflatable structure

    No full text
Before man had even stepped foot on the lunar surface, the idea of establishing a base was discussed extensively, be it in science fiction or academia. Although, to this day there has not been an actual base on the Moon, many studies have been conducted regarding design possibilities and environmental impacts. There exists a prevalent challenge in regards to the predictability of the effects the lunar environment has on surface structures. This thesis discusses those aspects of lunar habitats and proposes a new design concept.M.S.Includes bibliographical referencesby Rohith Dronadul

Steric control of the nuclearity of metallamacrocycles: formation of a hexanuclear gallium metalladiazamacrocycle and a hexadecanuclear manganese metalladiazamacrocycle

An S-6-symmetric hexanuclear gallium metalladiazamacrocycle, [Ga-III (6L6S6)-S-2] with a-(Lambda Delta)(Lambda Delta)-chiral sequence and an S-8-symmetric hexadecanuclear manganese metalladiazamacrocycle, [Mn-III (16L16S16)-S-2] with a-(Lambda Lambda Delta Delta)(Lambda Lambda Delta Delta)-chiral sequence were prepared using the same N-2-trans-cinnamoyl-2-hydroxy-3- naphthoylhydrazide (H3L2) as a bridging pentadentate ligand between the metal centers for the formation of a macrocyclic system.close252

Novel 48-membered hexadecanuclear and 60-membered icosanuclear manganese metallamacrocycles

    No full text
Either an S-8 symmetrical 48-membered hexadecanuclear or an S-10 symmetrical 60-membered icosanuclear manganese metallamacrocycle was self-assembled using a manganese ion and a ditopic pentadentate ligand. This was either N-4-phenylbenzoylsalicylhydrazide (H(3)pbshz) containing a rigid rod-shaped, bulky biphenyl residue as a terminal N-acyl group or N-3,3-diphenylpropionylsalicylhydrazide (H(3)dppshz) containing a flexible beta-branched N-acyl group, but with two sterically bulky phenyl residues at the C beta position. The backbone of these metal-organic assemblies is a repeating unit consisting of a -[Mn-N-N-] link that extends to complete either the 48-membered cyclic structure involving 16 manganese(III) centers and 16 ditopic linker ligands or the 60-membered cyclic structure involving 20 manganese(III) centers and 20 ditopic linker ligands (depending on the ligand used). Even though the nuclearity of the metallamacrocycles was different, the successive manganese centers were in the same chiral sequence, ...(Lambda Lambda Delta Delta)(Lambda Lambda Delta Delta)...close333

Song, Protest, the University, and the Nation: Delhi, 2016

In the wake of the suicide of Dalit postgraduate student Rohith Vermula in Hyderahabad, protests swept educational centres all over India. It was JNU, however, that became ground zero for dissent, especially after the arrest of student leader K. Kumar. His release from prison put into motion the resistance to curb division of powers in India, and sparked a national dispute on being an anti-national (read terrorist) Indian subject. Among the tools to make their plea visible, JNU students and faculty alike resorted to common denominators of Indian popular culture like Bollywood soundtracks

    IMP #9. Publish and Perish

In October 2025, several Hindi dailies reported that a professor from my department has been accused of defrauding forty-nine scholars through a conference that promised publication in a Scopus-indexed journal after peer review. I had sent a paper to that conference. It was not a naive decision. The paper had been moving through journals since 2022 with two rejections, multiple revisions, and neglect for several months. When the call for papers arrived from a colleague, I recognised it as a shortcut and went ahead. I wanted the work to appear somewhere rather than remain an unfinished file on my desktop
