A Low SWaP-C Radar Altimeter Transceiver Design for Small Satellites
This paper discusses the design details of a high resolution, low "Size, Weight, Power and Cost" (SWaP-C) radar altimeter (RA) system. Operating frequency of the radar is chosen within the Ka-band to achieve the desired size and weight requirements, that are highly demanded for the small satellite missions in a cost-efficient way. We propose a system design such that, an intended radar altimeter can be built by using the Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) components. The simulation results show that the proposed RA has high potentiality for realization.Accepted author manuscriptMicrowave Sensing, Signals & SystemsAtmospheric Remote SensingMathematical Geodesy and Positionin

This was reported to be a P. paykulli, but looks more like a P. petersi. Females of the two species may be frequently confused. A web that may have been inhabited by this Pholcus was located a few inches away from this feeding Plexippus.Published as part of Ahmed, Javed, Mohan, Krishna, Khalap, Rajashree & Hill, David E., 2015, Araneophagic behavior in Plexippus petersi (Karsch 1878) (Araneae: Salticidae: Plexippoida: Plexippinae), pp. 1-4 in Peckhamia 132 (1) on page 3, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.717266
Multistatic Radar Imaging for Traffic Monitoring
This work presents a novel radar system for vehicle imaging. The proposed system is based on estimation of target parameters like range and velocity and generation of the final radar image. For this purpose, a multistatic Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) system is implemented. Both the simulation and on site measurements show that such a radar system has the potential to replace the current very expensive sensors.Accepted author manuscriptMicrowave Sensing, Signals & System
Challenges Faced by Industries and their Potential Solutions in Deploying Machine Learning Applications
Across all sectors, organizations attempt to make efficiency savings and performance improvements by incorporating machine learning (ML) into commercial application services. However, in comparison to traditional software applications, design, deployment, and maintenance of ML applications is more complicated. In particular, ML introduces new challenges of data availability, concept drift, scalability, and technical debt. In this paper, we introduce some of the practical challenges that arise when deploying ML applications, and describe potential solutions. Our analysis is based on experience designing and deploying a commercial spend classification service

Performance Analysis of Double-Threshold Based Multi-Relay Selection with Differential Modulation for Cooperative D2D Network
In this paper, we analyze the performance of the proposed double threshold-based multi-relay selection for cooperative device-to-device (D2D) communication networks using differential modulation with distance constraints. The mathematical model of the proposed scheme is discussed and the proposed double-threshold based relay selection scheme consists of input threshold fixed at the relay based on the distance between the source, relay and destination nodes and the output threshold at the output of the combiner at the destination. Differential modulation with threshold-based relay selection using Differential AF (DiffAF) relaying is applied in the proposed scheme to overcome the full CSI requirement and it reduces complexity at the relays and destination. The performance analysis of double-threshold based multi-relay selection with different relay scenario for different cases based on the distance constraints and it shows improved performance for higher relay scenario compared to the direct transmission.</p
Asset Integrity Monitoring of Wind Turbine Blades With Non-Destructive Radar Sensing
Global growth in onshore and offshore wind energy has created a forecasted 11.5% Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) increase in Wind Turbine (WT) blades throughout 2020-2025. The ability to verify blade condition throughout the asset lifecycle is integral to economic and reliable renewable energy supplies. Currently, commercial inspection of deployed wind turbine blades is predominately performed by rope access personnel using visual and infrared cameras. In this paper we present the results of Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar analysis of a decommissioned wind turbine blade exhibiting clearly defined defects. We show that FMCW sensing provides a non-invasive, non-destructive and non-contact means of surface and sub-surface integrity evaluation of these composite structures. We observe absolute unit (a.u.) order of magnitude contrasts for healthy blades at 0.47 x106 (a.u.) versus defective blade structures at 1.9 x105 (a.u.). Our results present the analysis of the decoupled reflected electromagnetic wave, verifying FMCW sensitivity to different failure modes relating to surface and internal structures of the WT blade. The FMCW analysis of WT blades demonstrated within this paper represents a first in instantaneous cross-sectional analysis of blade assets, providing a transformative advancement in WT blade integrity analysis.</p

Remuneration Review:Risk, Planning, and Modelling beyond the Covid Crisis
Organisations that have survived Covid-19 jolts, uncertainties and lockdowns now require business intelligence and information system integration for decision support. Risks and market challenges have shifted as the pandemic progresses. Crisis management repositioning has left many firms cash-poor. Now, firms are facing labour shortages. Standard remuneration policies and practices need revision to keep core talent, stabilise teams from burn-out and to move forward strategically. This paper revises essential remuneration review considerations for crisis management in a new Covid-19 context. Current trends are discussed, as restrictions and pandemic uncertainties lift, allowing greater accuracy in risk scenario planning. Reliable data, fit for analytics and complex modelling, are making results more meaningful. The unique contribution of this research is the Covid-19 post-survival organisational perspective that can transform remuneration modelling. The scope extends beyond the governance level, and considers semantics and dynamic risk planning. Specific scenarios are updated from lessons learned from financial crisis management. Conclusions take a holistic view of how data can enhance remuneration practices to add value for organisations in the current Covid-19 climate. The paper advocates post crisis remuneration review that includes complex modelling with dynamic risk analysis for strategic planning in mid-term scenarios. </p
