No full textThe large utilization of pesticides in modern agriculture can seriously interfere with
the biological processes taking place in soils. This paper studied the effects of two
herbicides, trifluralin and acifluorfen, on the respiration and on the size of microbial biomass
in a soil under permanent pasture. The herbicides were added to the soil at the usual rate
utilized in the field, and at a tenfold higher rate. Acifluorfen did not seem to affect soil
