Search for Lepton Number and Flavour Violation in K+ and π0 Decays
The NA62 experiment at CERN collected a large sample of charged kaon decays into final states with multiple charged particles in Run 1 from 2016 to 2018. This sample provides sensitivities to rare decays with branching fractions as low as 10−11. Results of searches for the lepton number and/or flavour violating decays K+→π±μ∓e+ and π0→μ−e+ are reported. No evidence of these decays is found, and upper limits on the branching fractions are obtained at 90% confidence level: B(K+→π−μ+e+)<4.2×10−11, B(K+→π+μ−e+)<6.6×10−11, and B(π0→μ−e+)<3.2×10−10. These results improve by approximately one order of magnitude over previous results for these decay modes

S. P. BRIDGE AT
DUMBARTON POINT
BIO INDKltTAKING TO GKT NEW
KRKIGHT ROUTE INTO SAN
FRANCISCO.
Route Will Be By Way of Newark,
Dumbarton Point and thc New Itay
Shore Cut-off.
SAN FRANCISCO. July 9—The
Southern Pacific Company has de
elded upon a new freight line between
this city and Oakland for the handling of transcontinental freight for
the Orient, as well as general lines.
Th* route will be "by wsjr of Newark. Dumbarton Point, Redwood City
and across the now bay shore cutoff Into this city. The line Is to be
about sixty-seven miles long, with
a maximum grade of about one and
n half per cent. This move is one of
the most Important made by tbe company for some time.
Tho old coast road, recently transformed Into a broad-gauge system
from Alameda to Newark, will be
utilized In tho new system. The line
will thon extend across tbe proposed
Dumbarton Point cut-off to Newark
and across the shallow south bay by
u 260-foot drawbridge. From thin
point the line will extend to Redwood
City.
From the Intter place tho rouio
will expend Into this city by way of
tho bay shore cut-off, which Is now
In course of construction. It Is expected the cut-off will be completed
by Decombcr. This will give tho
Southern Pacific a chance to Inaugurate Its new freight-system within
n very short lime after.
The expense of the cut-off across
from Dumbarton Point will be large,
nnd this work was only-determined
upon after it was round to be out of
the question from an economic point
of view to move freight from Oakland *lo San Francisco via San Jose
or Santa Clara, a distance of nearly
one hundred miles.
The Immense growth of San
Franclfico made It necessary either (o
j provide mom trans-boy ferry facilities
I and ships and yards at great ex-
iiense or bring Snn FrnnclBco freight
! Into the bay by way of on all-rail
line.
| After Investigation U was decldod
I that the only practicable route
, would be to cross South San Fran-
j ciaco boy at a'polnt which would reduce the rail mileage to a figure
that would mean no greater expense
that the present slow system
switching trains In West Oakland
yard, shipping the cars In groups
across the buy on car ferries and thon
roswltchlng to Sao Francisco freight
houses and Industries.
President Harrlman. after the fire
gave evidence or his faith In thc city
by ordering the work rushed, believing It would be very necessary in
furnishing transportation facilities to
handle tho material for robulldlng
tho city. ■
Chief Engineer Hood expects to
have one line, the bay shore eut-off,
completed this fall. Fifty miles of
yard tracks are being Inld at VlRlta-
clon Boy. Just below the city. Day
and night gongs are employed and
tho five tunnels nre well under way
Tho line will be dotiblo track to San
Jose, connecting with the present
line at San Brano.
The suburban passenger service
Is to be Increased and the time shortened arteen minutes. All north and
south frolght for Snn Francisco will
then come in via San Jose, and east
and west freight, Instead of crossing
tbo bay nt Oakland, will move via
Dumbarton Point.
The Dumbnrton Point cut-off will
bo begun no Hoon as possible. White
there Is no regular line of boats
operating south of Dumbarton Point
and only a few schooners occasionally
plying those waters, the possible fat
■r« commerce Is to be safeguarded
by a drawbridge of two Bpans each,
giving a channel of m feet clear
and large enough to accommodate tho
biggest steamer afloat
Passenger service has not
decided upon. Tho now route wilt
not affect any other service than that
; across San Francisco boy. unless an
j Ogden route overland should In
; brought In that way.
[ The Southern Paclflc local ofllclali
! expect to have the new route completed In time to serve San Francisco's prospective Immense building
trade ot next spring.
SAX JOSE, July 8.—Thc real es-
; tote deolors, at a meeting Saturday,
' formulated n protest to the War De-
. partment and President Roosevelt
against the building of n bridge nc-
| ross the narrows of San Francisco
oay at Dumbarton Point. Louis Son-
nlkson, n local merchant, said ho had
; visited Colonel Heuer on behalf of
the Chamber of Commerce.
; The plans provide for a drawbridge with a draw of 125 feet span
on either side of the central pier.
i The Southern Paclflc agent, Mr.
i Schlllbcrg. sold It would soon be nec-
' essary to provide some relief for tho
congestion at Oakland arising out of
tho fact that passengers and freight
bad to be transferred across the bay
by ferry. Tbe building of tho bridge
would bring the transcontinental line
nearer San Jose. It wonld not tend
to Increase rates. San Jose bos tho
benefit' of terminal rates on products
going out of the valley. It might
make a difference ln< tho local rates
if a pile bridge were to be constructed, but a drawbridge would permit
freight competition by water.
It la not the Intention of the railroad to make a freight line exclusively, but they would run transcontinental passenger trains over tbe
bridge.

A fine monument to commemorate a

Estrategias de predicción de consumo energético en edificaciones: una revisión
Buildings are one of the main polluting actors in the environment. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen strategies to reduce their energy consumption, such as energy-efficient design (new buildings) and energy management (existing buildings). For this, it is essential to predict energy consumption to know the state of the building’s operation and infer the causes and effectiveness of energy-saving strategies. However, the diversity of existing energy consumption prediction techniques makes it difficult for researchers to identify, select, and apply them. Therefore, from a literature review, this article identifies prediction techniques, exposes its theoretical principles, describes the general stages of building a prediction model, recognizes evaluation metrics, identifies some of its strengths and weaknesses, and presents criteria to facilitate the selection of a prediction technique and evaluation metrics according to the characteristics of the case study. A bibliometric analysis was carried out to identify and study the most critical articles on energy demand in buildings. It is found that there is a trend in the application of machine learning techniques and that energy consumption prediction models are mainly applied to residential, commercial, and educational buildings.
