Influence of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction on the spin-wave spectra of thin films
No full textWe have developed a theory that describes the spin-wave spectra of ferromagnetic films with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions. In agreement with recent experiments (Zakeri et al 2010 Phys. Rev. Lett. 104 137203), we demonstrate that the spin-wave dispersion relation is asymmetric with respect to wave vector inversion for a variety of ferromagnetic films with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions and different crystallographic classes. It is also predicted that, for non-zero wave vectors, the resonance frequency and resonance field can increase or decrease depending on the spin-wave vector orientation. We provide explicit formulas for the spin-wave dispersion relation and its asymmetry, as well as for the dynamic susceptibility for a film under microwave excitation, that can be used to understand ferromagnetic resonance as well as Brillouin light scattering experiments in these classes of magnetic thin films.</p
Role of anisotropy on the domain wall properties of ferromagnetic nanotubes
No full textIn this paper we investigate the role of magneto-crystalline anisotropy on the domain wall (DW) properties of tubular magnetic nanostructures. Based on a theoretical model and micromagnetic simulations, we show that either cubic or uniaxial magneto-crystalline anisotropies have some influence on the domain wall properties (wall size, propagation velocity and energy barrier) and then on the overall magnetization reversal mechanism. Besides the characterization of the transverse and vortex domain wall sizes for different anisotropies, we predict an anisotropy dependent transition between the occurrence of transverse and vortex domain walls in tubular nanowires. We also discuss the dynamics of the vortex DW propagation gradually increasing the uniaxial anisotropy constant and we found that the average velocity is considerably reduced. Our results show that different anisotropies can be considered in real samples in order to manipulate the domain wall behavior and the magnetization reversal process.</p
Oersted field assisted magnetization reversal in cylindrical core-shell nanostructures
No full textA method to manipulate magnetization reversal in core-shell nanostructures is presented. The focus is on cylindrical multilayer structures comprising of an inner conductor wire covered by two shells: (i) an intermediate non-conducting and non-magnetic shell and (ii) a nanotube made of an outer ferromagnetic layer. The properties of the magnetization reversal of the ferromagnetic phase are investigated when a circular Oersted field is generated by applying an electric current through the inner wire. Coercive fields and remanent magnetization as functions of the circular field strength are explored. By means of a simple analytical model and OOMMF simulations, once the current is turned on, two key results have been found: (i) A manipulable axial demagnetization, that is, a magnetization transition from the quasi uniform alignment to a flux closure circular configuration when the circular field strength is above a critical field; and (ii) a quadratic reduction of the coercivity on the circular field strength, in the case that the nanotube magnetization is switched by an applied magnetic field along the tube axis and further assisted by a circular Oersted field. It is found that in this kind of structures, Oersted field assisted magnetization reversal (OAMR) can be an alternative way to reduce coercivity, as required by the magnetic storage industry and currently performed with heat assisted techniques.</p
Field angle dependent change of the magnetization reversal mode in epitaxial Co (0001) films
No full textThe magnetic field dependent reorientation phase transition of epitaxial Co (0001) films with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy is studied as a function of the applied field angle. The experimental data reveal an abrupt qualitative change of the magnetization reversal path at a critical angle between in-plane and out-of-plane field orientation, which is caused by a change in the domain formation process occurring concurrently with the phase transition. By means of our experiments and model calculations, we demonstrate that the observations are due to a transition from instability driven magnetization reversal occurring near in-plane field orientation to domain nucleation processes, which occur near out-of-plane orientation of the magnetic field.</p

No full textA neotype designation for Helvella fusca proposed in 1997 proves to have been erroneous because an illustration accompanying the original description was overlooked. Such illustrations normally have served as the lectotype when all known specimens of the author's taxon have been lost. The authors of that neotype designation should instead have designated the illustration as a lectotype and a specimen as an epitype, which is done in this paper. Relación de la inteligencia emocional con el cuidado otorgado por enfermeras/os
No full textIntroduction: Humanized nursing care is the main mission of nurses, which requires not only theoretical and intervention knowledge, but also special emotional skills aimed at improving the quality of nursing care. However, this research topic has been little addressed in the literature, which indicates the need to strengthen and expand knowledge on this matter. Objective: To describe the relationship between emotional intelligence and nursing care in a public hospital in Mexico. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional correlational descriptive study was conducted with a sample of 127 patents. Valid Emotional Quotient Inventories (EQI) and Nurse Caring Behavior Assessment Tools were applied. Results: A high and significant relationship was found between the two variables (rs=0.816; p=0.001) R2=.704, that is, emotional intelligence is responsible for 70.4% of the variability in nursing care. Discussion: The results are similar to those found in other studies in which the variables have been researched separately. The importance of emotional intelligence in nursing practice and the perception of care as a good one is evident. Conclusions: When nurses have an adequate level of emotional intelligence, it will be directly reflected on the quality of nursing care, which indicates the importance of mental health in improving the indicators for quality of nursing care.

Objetivo: Descrever a relação entre a inteligência emocional e os cuidados prestados por enfermeiros em um hospital público no México. Materiais e Métodos: Estudo descritivo, correlacional e transversal com uma amostra de 127 pacientes. Os inventários válidos de Inteligência Emocional e Avaliação de Comportamento de Enfermagem foram aplicados. Resultados: Existe uma relação elevada e significativa entre as duas variáveis (rs=0,816; p=0,001), R2=,704, ou seja, a Inteligência Emocional explica a variabilidade de 70,4% dos cuidados na prática dos enfermeiros. Discussão: Os resultados são semelhantes a outros estudos, onde as variáveis foram pesquisadas separadamente. A importância da inteligência emocional na prática da enfermagem e a percepção do cuidado como bom é evidente. Conclusões: Se os enfermeiros tiverem um nível adequado de inteligência emocional, isto terá um efeito direto na qualidade do atendimento prestado, o que denota a importância da saúde mental na melhoria dos indicadores de qualidade do atendimento.

Resultados: existe una relación alta y significativa entre las dos variables (rs=0,816; p =0,001), una R2=.704; es decir la Inteligencia Emocional explica la variabilidad del 70.4% del cuidado en la práctica de enfermeras/os. Discusión: Los resultados son similares a otros estudios, donde las variables se han investigado por separado. Es evidente la importancia de la inteligencia emocional en el quehacer de la enfermería y la percepción del cuidado como buena. Conclusiones: si las enfermeras/os tienen un nivel de inteligencia emocional adecuado, tendrá un efecto directo en la calidad del cuidado otorgado, lo que denota la importancia de la salud mental para mejorar los indicadores de calidad de atención
