Troppi agiografi per un santo? Il ‘dossier’ di Medardo di Noyon e la questione attributiva di BHL 5864

«Too Many Hagiographers for a Saint? Medard’s of Noyon Dossier and the Attributive Question of BHL 5864». ABSTRACT: Bishop of Noyon in the middle of the VI century, Medard received in 555 the Merovingian queen Radegund, while fleeing from the king Chlothar, and consecrated her as a deaconess against the will of the king (Ven. Fort., Vita Radeg. 12). The reputation of the holiness of the bishop was increased, so much so that only a few years later, at his death, it was Chlothar himself who buried him 'cum summo honore' in Soissons, ordering the construction of an imposing basilica, later completed by his son Sigebert (Greg. Tur., Franc. IV 19). Therefore, the richness of his hagiographic dossier (BHL 5863-5874) is not surprising. It includes, among others, a large poem by Venantius Fortunatus (carm. II 16) about Medard’s miracles 'in vita' and 'post mortem', dating to 566/567, and a later and dependent 'Vita Medardi' in prose, written during the reign of Theodebert II (after 602). Part of the manuscript tradition also attributes this second text to Fortunatus (it would be a senile work), while the editor of the MGH edition includes it among the «opuscula Venantio Fortunato male attributa»

Phase-3 trial of recombinant human alkaline phosphatase for patients with sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (REVIVAL)

    No full text
After the publication of the article, we have been informed that the name of a contributor in the list of REVIVAL investigators was given incomplete. He was given as “Patrick Honore” or “Honore P” but he should have been cited as “Patrick M. Honore” or “Honore PM”. Additionally, there are two mistakes in the contributors list: “ElisabethDiltoer” should read “Elisabeth Dewaele, Marc Diltoer” and “Craig French” should be also added. The original publication and the supplementary Excel file have been updated. The Authors apologize for these mistakes

Frailty in Caregivers and Its Relationship with Psychological Stress and Resilience: A Cross-Sectional Study Based on the Deficit Accumulation Model

    No full text
BACKGROUND: Studies increasingly suggest that chronic exposure to psychological stress can lead to health deterioration and accelerated ageing, thus possibly contributing to the development of frailty. Recent approaches based on the deficit accumulation model measure frailty on a continuous grading through the "Frailty Index" (FI), i.e. a macroscopic indicator of biological senescence and functional status.OBJECTIVES: The study aimed at testing the relationship of FI with caregiving, psychological stress, and psychological resilience.DESIGN: Cross-sectional study, with case-control and correlational analyses.PARTICIPANTS: Caregivers of patients with dementia (n=64), i.e. individuals a priori considered to be exposed to prolonged psychosocial stressors, and matched controls (n=64) were enrolled.MEASUREMENTS: The two groups were compared using a 38-item FI condensing biological, clinical, and functional assessments. Within caregivers, the association of FI with Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) and Brief Resilience Scale (BRS) was tested.RESULTS: Caregivers had higher FI than controls (F=8.308, p=0.005). FI was associated directly with PSS (r=0.660, p<0.001) and inversely with BRS (r=-0.637, p<0.001). Findings remained significant after adjusting for certain confounding variables, after excluding from the FI the conditions directly related to psychological stress, and when the analyses were performed separately among participants older and younger than 65 years.CONCLUSIONS: The results provide insight on the relationship of frailty with caregiving, psychological stress, and resilience, with potential implications for the clinical management of individuals exposed to chronic emotional strain

Crystal Structure of FePb 4 Sb 6 Se 14 and its Structural Relationship with FePb 3 Sb 4 Se 10

    No full text
Single crystals of FePb 4 Sb 6 Se 14 , were obtained from solid‐state combination of high purity elemental powders at 873K for three days. Single crystal X‐ray structure determination revealed that the compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P 2 1 / c (no. 14) and adopts the structure of Jamesonite (FePb 4 Sb 6 S 14 ). The structure contains two crystallographically independent lead atoms with monocapped and bicapped trigonal prismatic coordinations, three antimony atoms located in a distorted octahedral environment and one iron atom occupying a flattened octahedral coordination. Neighboring monocapped and bicapped trigonal prims around lead atoms share faces and edges to build a corrugated layer parallel to the ac plane. Octahedrally coordinated antimony atoms share edges to form one‐dimensional (1D) {SbSe} ∞ ribbons connecting adjacent corrugated layers. The distortion of the octahedral coordination around antimony atoms within the {SbSe} ∞ ribbons with the longest bond pointing towards the center of the ribbon, suggests the stereochemical activity of antimony lone‐pairs with their electron clouds pointing towards the center of the {SbSe} ∞ ribbon. The three dimensional framework resulting from the connectivity between the corrugated layers and the {SbSe} ∞ ribbons, contains isolated cylindrical voids parallel to [100] which are filled by a 1D Fe n Se 4n+2 straight chain of edge‐sharing FeSe 6 octahedra. The crystal structure of FePb 4 Sb 6 Se 14 is closely related to that of FePb 3 Sb 4 Se 10 as they are formed by similar building units with different sizes.Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/95198/1/2549_ftp.pd
