    No full text

This paper aims to analyze the contribution of the Competency-Based Approach (CBA) to improving the professional and academic performance of Moroccan secondary school teachers. To address this topic, we used competency-based theory as our theoretical framework. Concerning the methodological tools, we adopted a qualitative approach based on semi-structured interviews conducted with a sample of five foreign-language teachers (French and English). In addition, content analysis and textual analysis using NVIVO were employed to synthesize and process the qualitative data collected. The main findings of this study highlight an improvement in teaching practices and in the performance of the interviewed teachers who have adopted this competency and skills-oriented pedagogical innovation. However, the implementation of this strategic vision requires substantial investments as well as robust logistical, material, and technical infrastructures

DETERMINANTS OF SUCCESSOR SELECTION: EVIDENCE FROM FAMILY-OWNED SMES IN MOROCCO

The increasing mortality rate of family companies worldwide makes the investigation of the problems of succession one of the priorities that has fascinated the community of researchers recently. This study contributes to the analysis of the succession issue from the successor\u27s point of view, through the investigation of the potential successor selection process and choice of determinants. This study\u27s originality is in its attempt to scrutinize the phenomenon in question through the entrepreneurial and sociocultural lens. Also, this study aims to present some managerial implications that can support the founders of Moroccan family-owned SMEs (Small and Medium sized Enterprises) in setting up a succession process which will enable them to select their potential successors in an effective way. A qualitative approach using semi-structured interviews was conducted with six managers of five Moroccan family-owned SMEs. The research will contribute towards the scholarly debate about the succession issue, which is considered a significant field that deserves a deeper analysis, especially in the context of Moroccan family-owned SMEs. The results of this study also revealed that there is a heterogeneity of issues in the selection of potential successors from one family business to another and from one business family to another. Indeed, the trust between the predecessor and the potential successor, as well as between the latter and the other stakeholders, the business families’ subjective norms (i.e., nepotism, primogeniture, patriarchy), the successor’s involvement, the willingness, the motivation, the level of education, the knowledge and the accumulated experiences, are the main determining factors considered when selecting the potential successor of family SMEs

The family entrepreneurship regroups family members, family business and the entrepreneurship activities. This makes it a fertile and rich research field, which needs to be explored and analyzed to understand the specific behaviors and orientations of the family entrepreneurial initiatives. The main purpose of this paper is to present a bibliometric analysis and research agenda of scientific publications dealing mainly with the family entrepreneurship field. The bibliometric process is the methodological design adopted to review the previous studies about our problematic. The scope of our study is limited to the scientific articles have been published between 2000 and 2022 (September), in the three data bases: Web of sciences, Scopus and Jstor. 73 out of 181 articles selected have been retained and analyzed after the assessment process taking into consideration different inclusion and exclusion criteria. In addition, the Excel’s tools and the VOSviewer software version 1.6.18 are the main technological devices used to carry out this research. Our study shows that family entrepreneurship is a legitimate area of research, despite the fact that it is still in its pre-paradigmatic and launching stages. Thus, further academic studies dealing with the family entrepreneurship research clusters generated through the thematic and bibliometric analysis (as presented by the figure 5) need to be deepene
