Traffic Management in Residential Areas: Case Study the South District of Luxor City, Egypt
Traffic management includes the implementation of a wide range of measures, devices and techniques based on a combination of parallel strategies, to improve safety and livability on streets by reducing the effect of vehicular traffic.
The local residential streets have the intended traffic function of providing access to limited numbers of local residents. Traffic management for residential streets helps to preserve and enhance streets by minimizing the negative impacts of traffic and seeks to improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists, motorists and all other road users.
The problem is that the planning of Egypt’s existing cities depended on grid and linear network streets without
separation land-use. Where the residential areas are always mixed land-use, (residential and commercial uses). This situation reflects on congestion residential areas; noisy, Traffic confusion, . . . . . . etc. So, the author aimed to create the traffic methodological for existing residential areas.
This paper is applied in the south district of Luxor city, where the city’s authorities took some procedures for
managing traffic to no avail.
This practical study includes: designing the traffic methodological framework, applying the framework at case
study, and comparing the designed model with the current state of case study. The software programs used are SPSS and excel.
The results show that the current state ignores some principles in comparison to the designed model. The important recommendations of research are: the designed model should be applied at case study, and the framework of traffic methodological for existing residential areas is applicable in different areas

EVALUATION OF GROUNDWATER QUALITY OF SIWA OASIS
In discussing the water quality evaluation for use in different purposes, the author will briefly examine some of the major important water quality standards. These standards serve as a basis for appraisal of the results of chemical water analysis in terms of suitability of the water for various intended uses. According to total dissolved salts (TDS), major ions as cations ( Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+), anions (CO₃2â», HCO₃â»Â ,SOâ‚„2â», Clâ»), with some heavy metals such as Al3+, B3+ , Cd2+, Co2+, Cr3+, Cu2+, Fe3+, Mn2+, Mo2+, Ni2+, Pb2+, Sr2+, V2+  and Zn2+  The results indicate that the samples of Nubian sandstone aquifer is suitable for drinking of human and livestock , suitable for laundry purposes and for irrigation. While the samples of Fractured dolomite limestone aquifer are unsuitable for drinking and irrigation.Â
Towards a Better Understanding of the Computer Vision Research Community in Africa
Computer vision is a broad field of study that encompasses different tasks
(e.g., object detection). Although computer vision is relevant to the African
communities in various applications, yet computer vision research is
under-explored in the continent and constructs only 0.06% of top-tier
publications in the last ten years. In this paper, our goal is to have a better
understanding of the computer vision research conducted in Africa and provide
pointers on whether there is equity in research or not. We do this through an
empirical analysis of the African computer vision publications that are Scopus
indexed, where we collect around 63,000 publications over the period 2012-2022.
We first study the opportunities available for African institutions to publish
in top-tier computer vision venues. We show that African publishing trends in
top-tier venues over the years do not exhibit consistent growth, unlike other
continents such as North America or Asia. Moreover, we study all computer
vision publications beyond top-tier venues in different African regions to find
that mainly Northern and Southern Africa are publishing in computer vision with
68.5% and 15.9% of publications, resp. Nonetheless, we highlight that both
Eastern and Western Africa are exhibiting a promising increase with the last
two years closing the gap with Southern Africa. Additionally, we study the
collaboration patterns in these publications to find that most of these exhibit
international collaborations rather than African ones. We also show that most
of these publications include an African author that is a key contributor as
the first or last author. Finally, we present the most recurring keywords in

Identifying Water Pollution Sources Using Real-Time Monitoring and IoT
Water is a natural resource essential for basic human life; however, water pollution is deteriorating in major water sources, such as rivers, seas, and lakes. This study evaluated and identified specific pollution sources owing to numerous industrial and other potential sources of pollution along the enormous length of a Siak river. A water pollution detection system was installed and deployed at river measurement stations having the potential to pollute, particularly near industrial sites releasing chemicals and wastewater. Data obtained from the system was analyzed using an algorithm to detect and assess any abnormal behavior change in the data over time. Six detection systems were deployed around the river, primarily in residential and industrial areas. As the studied river is one of the deepest in Indonesia, this research focused only on analyzing and identifying the sources of polluted water around Pekanbaru where many people, including water supply companies, utilize the river water. Water pollution sources were identified at sensor nodes two and four, which indicated through abnormal data that various types of material were present in the river and were detected using the sensors system. Several processes are required to improve the location data accuracy, e.g., improving the algorithm using training data, performing several iterations, increasing data from the sensor, and repeating the process many times to establish the source coordinate, as shown in the results
