    Understanding the relationship between new media literacy, communication skills, and democratic tendency: Model development and testing

Therefore, scholars conceptualize new media literacy (NML) that citizens should have to function successfully in this digital era. This study proposed and tested a structural model that examines multiple relationships among NML, communication skills (CS), and democratic tendency (DT). Data were collected from 1047 Turkish university students and analyzed through structural equation modeling. Using a comprehensive theoretical framework from the literature, NML was operationalized through four factors: functional consuming (FC), critical consuming (CC), functional prosuming (FP), and critical prosuming (CP). the results showed that FC and FP had a positive effect on CC, CP, and CS; CC had a positive effect on CP and DT; and CS had a positive effect on CC and DT.     06.03.2018 tarihli ve 30352 sayılı Resmi Gazetede yayımlanan “Yükseköğretim Kanunu İle Bazı Kanun Ve Kanun Hükmünde Kararnamelerde Değişiklik Yapılması Hakkında Kanun” ile 18.06.2018 tarihli “Lisansüstü Tezlerin Elektronik Ortamda Toplanması, Düzenlenmesi ve Erişime Açılmasına İlişkin Yönerge” gereğince tam metin erişime açılmıştır.Sakarya il merkezindeki ilköğretim okullarında çalışan, yöneticisi merkezi bir seçme sınavı sonucuna göre atanan 194 öğretmen ve yöneticisi sınavsız atanan 233 öğretmenin yöneticileri ile ilgili görüşleri alınarak yapılan bu araştırma, “Okul yöneticilerinin atanma biçimlerinin yönetim süreçlerine etkisini” belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmada veriler, ilgili literatür taraması yapıldıktan ve uzman görüşü alındıktan sonra oluşturulan; “İlköğretim Okulu Yöneticilerinin Yönetim Süreçlerine Uyabilme Yeterlikleri ” anketi kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Araştırma sonunda yöneticilerin yönetim süreçlerine ilişkin, yöneticisi sınavla atanan öğretmenlerin görüşleri ile yöneticisi sınavsız atanan öğretmenlerin görüşleri arasında tüm süreçlerde anlamlı farkın olduğu görülmüştür. Yöneticisi sınavla atanan öğretmenlerin yöneticilerini, yönetim süreçlerinin tümünde daha yeterli buldukları belirlenmiştir. Yöneticilerin yönetim süreçlerine ilişkin öğretmen görüşleri arasında, eğitim durumu ve cinsiyet değişkenlerine göre anlamlı bir farklılık bulunamamıştır. Yalnızca iletişim boyutunda, kıdem değişkenine göre farklılık saptanmıştır. Öğretmenlerin yöneticilerde en çok, “yönetim ve denetim alanında lisansüstü eğitim alma” niteliğini görmek istedikleri belirlenmiştir. Öğretmenlerin yönetici seçme sürecinde dikkate alınması gereken nitelikleri önem sırasına göre; yönetim ve denetim alanında lisansüstü eğitim almış olma, kıdem, yönetim alanında hizmet içi eğitim almış olma, yönetici seçme sınavında başarılı olma şeklinde ifade ettikleri, mülakat-takdir puanı ve geçmiş yıllardaki sicil ortalamalarının süreçte çok fazla etkili olmasını istemedikleri belirlenmiştir.This research which has been based on the comments and opinions of 194 teacgers who were choosen by a central exam and 233 teachers who were designated without an exam in the centrum of Sakarya province, has been designed and operated to determine effects the types of administration. Data of research have been gathered through the use of schale Primary Education Administrators Competences to agabeylities of processing administration. At the end of the research, it has been seen that opinions of teachers whose directors were designated by exam are different teachers whose directors were designated without an exam. It has been found that teachers whose directors designated by an exam found their directors more proficient in all the process of administration. It has been found in the reseach that opinions of teachers about directors administration process hav not reflected significant differences from variables such as sex, seniority, and education level. It has been determined that teachers the most want to see directors who have the quality of the master degree about administrating and controlling. It has been concluded that in the process of choosing administrater, teachers have expressed qualities which have to take note of take a master degree on the branch of administrating and controlling, seniority, take a in-service training about administrating, to be successfull in the administrater, choosing exam and teachers have expressed that they do not want interview point of preciation and average of registered in the past years to be affectual on the process

    Investigation of miRNA-199a-5p Expression and its Clinical Association With LDL Cholesterol Levels in Atherosclerosis

    Background/Aim: Atherosclerosis is a chronic and progressive pathological condition marked by the accumulation of lipids, fibrous materials, and inflammatory cells, within the arterial walls. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are single-stranded, evolutionarily conserved, non-coding small RNAs, that play a pivotal role in controlling various pathophysiological cellular functions and molecular signalling cascades associated with the development of atherosclerosis. Additionally, dysregulation in cholesterol and lipid metabolism is known to increase susceptibility to atherosclerosis. In this study, we aimed to determine the changes in serum levels of miRNA-199a-5p, examine its relationship with LDL cholesterol, and investigate its diagnostic value in patients diagnosed with atherosclerosis. Materials and Methods: MiRNA-199a-5p expression analysis was conducted using PCR on serum samples from 20 patients diagnosed with atherosclerosis and 26 completely healthy, voluntary control subjects. The blood biochemical analysis values for all groups participating in the study were obtained from their records. Results: The data analysis revealed significant up-regulation of miRNA-199a-5p in the serum of the patient group. Additionally, miRNA-199a-5p expression levels positively correlated with LDL cholesterol levels. Conclusion: miRNA-199a-5p can be considered a reliable biomarker in patients with atherosclerosis, potentially informing and guiding future therapeutic approaches. Additionally, a significant relationship was found between lipid metabolism and miRNA-199a-5p in atherosclerosis. © 2024 The Author(s).The Yeditepe University Open Access System is a compendium of indexed publications.     Konserwatyzm narodowy Maurice’a Barrèsa jako sprzeciw wobec nowoczesnej ideologizacji życia zbiorowego

    The subject of the article is the philosophical and political concept of Maurice Barrès (1862–1923), French writer and thinker, the most important next to Charles Maurras, a national-conservative thinker in the Third French Republic. The author argues that the topicality of Barrès’ concept lies in revealing the threat arising from the desire to fully reflect reality in political ideologies. The hermeneutic exegesis of Barrès’s concept avoids its superficial reading as chauvinistic or internally incoherent. The author situates it as an ideological and historical context as a polemic with official ideology of the Third Republic, that is, Charles Renouvier’s neocantism. Its links with the concepts of Ernest Renan and Hyppolite Taine, writers combining individualism and agnosticism with conservatism, are revealed. The author points out that Barrès’ opposition to the ideologization of collective life resulted from his concept of man. In the course of its evolution — the transition from ‘The Cult of Self’ to conservatism, its individualistic aspect has been preserved. This justified both the valorisation of the nation as one of the sources of the self’s identity and the rejection of chauvinistic approaches to nationalism, not taking into account other factors forming the human identity, i.e. the region and the universal community.
