ESQUINA MULTIMEDIA – MUSEUM EXHIBITION FOR THE VISUALIZATION OF CHAN CHAN ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE
[EN] Chan Chan, an archaeological site located at Trujillo, Peru, is a huge historical settlement very large and difficult to visit
and some well-conserved architecture, like Huaca Arco Iris, is very far from the core centre of the site. Furthermore many
other heavy factors, as illegal excavations, marine salt transported by the wind and the sometime devastating
phenomenon of the Niño, are the reasons of the lost of many decorative elements, which are covered due to
conservation issues. To overcome the aforesaid problems, we designed, developed and realized the museum exhibition
called “Esquina Multimedia”, providing the tourists with interactive and enjoyable applications. An Augmented Reality
application has been developed in order to discover ancient artefacts that are invisible because covered by the earth (or
by protection structures). A web-browser has been specifically designed to show bas-relieves, with HD visualization and
with anaglyph stereoscopic view. Herewith, a wall-mounted panel representing a metric 3D reconstruction by an accurate
survey of the building helps the user to find the artefact position.Pierdicca, R.; Malinverni, ES.; Frontoni, E.; Colosi, F.; Orazi, R. (2016). Interactive Summary evaluation for learning
The paper examines the structural model of a new type of lesson used to verify the preparation of the student before the final examination of any academic study course. This innovative teaching tool, which can be easily applied also in the study paths of all other non-academic levels, including first level schools, Lifelong Learning and in general in all levels of training, is called Interactive Summary Evaluation (I.S.E.) precisely in relation to the synthetic and immersive characteristics of which it is characterized. The work begins its analysis process by taking into consideration the "interactive video lesson" highlighting the main benefits in terms of the teaching effectiveness that it can bring in the learning process. The second phase of the analysis elaborates the progress and evolution of this last type of lessons to arrive at the definition of the structure, applications, benefits, critical points and learning outcomes
The construction phases of Khor Rori's monumental gate
The choice of the location for the foundation of the city of Sumhuram was suggested to the Hadrami colonisers by numerous factors (presence of drinking water, perfect visibility of the location from a distance, etc.). In order to survive for more than three hundred years the city needed to defend itself and reinforce its defensive system throughout the whole course of its history. In 1999-2000 MID undertook studies of the defensive system of the suburban gate complex of Sumhuram. This study which is based on architectonic and epigraphic data, led not only to a better understanding of the construction phases of the gate, but also to the elaboration of an hypothesis about the beginning of the history of the city. It is our belief that at the end of the first century BC a first settlement was founded with mainly a defensive function. In the first century AD it was transformed into a city

Iperplasia prostatica e uretale in vitelli trattati con ormoni steroidei sessuali: studio sul significato patogenetico delle cellule neuroendocrine e dell'interazione stroma-epitelio
In beef-breading, illegal administration of sex steroid hormones with anabolic purposes is suspected as a still diffuse practice in many European countries. The continuous evolution in strategies of treatment has determined an attenuation or the disappearance of the classical ante mortem and macroscopic lesions on animals. Histopathological evaluation of bovine prostate and urethra, considered as the target organs of estrogenic and androgenic hormones, has proved to be an important method to detect the use of anabolics in bovine production with preventive implications. Typical histological lesions following to steroid hormones administration are urethral and prostatic hyperplasia and squamous metaplasia, with variable severity and distribution in relation to the specific hormone or hormones cocktail administered.
In human prostate, role of neuroendocrine (NE) cells and stromal-epithelial interaction in the pathogenesis of benign prostatic hyperplasia has been extensively analyzed.
In this study, immunoreactivity to Serotonin and Chromogranin A, considered as typical markers of NE cell, to fibroblast growth factors (FGF-2 and -7) and interleukins (IL-8 and -1a) has been evaluated on specimens of urethro-prostatic complex collected from experimentally hormones treated veal calves; moreover, it has been considered the expression of fibroblast growth factors receptors (FGF-R).
Urethral Serotonin-positive NE cells have showed to be sensitive to hormonal treatment. Also concerning stromal-epithelial interaction, prostatic expression of FGF-2, IL-8 and FGF-R has revealed a significant correlation to administration of steroid hormones. No data have been obtained about interaction between FGF-7 and IL-1a.
In conclusion, this study confirm the involvement of NE cells and stromal-epithelial interaction on the pathogenesis of bovine hormones induced prostatic and urethral hyperplasia, suggesting some important implication in evaluation of lesions in suspected treated animals

Discovering Chan Chan: modern technologies for urban and architectural analysis
Since 2002, the Italian Mission of CNR-ITABC has been operating in the archaeological complex of Chan Chan (Peru), which is the largest pre-Columbian settlement entirely built with adobe. In 1989 Chan Chan was placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The main purpose of the work is aimed at the conservation, documentation and use of the site and of the territory that is related to Chan Chan from a historical and cultural point of view. The urban structure of Chan Chan, which is spread over a surface of 14 km2, has a number of buildings which characterizes the town at both an architectural (ciudadelas, huacas, huachaques) and decorative level (bas-reliefs, geometrical motifs). In order to achieve our research goals, we had to arrange for the combined use of various analysis techniques that would provide both urban and architectural information about the town. The data we obtained allowed us to make a more up-to-date interpretation of the urban fabric and revealed intriguing details regarding the construction phases of one of its palaces which will be helpful both for the planning of the Archaeological Park and the restoration project of the Palacio Rivero
PROCESS PLANNING IN LASER MILLING
In this paper two different laser milling processes simulators,
developed by the authors, are presented. The first one is a mathematical model where the most important physical phenomena
such as the work piece heating and vaporization and the plasma
plume formation are considered. As result, the process parameters
are directly related to the most important machining outputs
like the ablated volume and shape of the crater, the temperature
in work piece, the resulting surface conditions
- …
