    Use of Library as a Correlate of Undergraduate Students’ Exploration of Library Materials in Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Nigeria

    The work is on library instruction programme as a correlate of undergraduate students’ Utilization of Library Materials in Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Nigeria. The research design used for this study is ex-post facto research design. The population comprises all the undergraduates in Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo. Simple random and stratified random sampling technique was employed for the study. One hundred and twenty users were sampled from the programme in all the schools (strata) in the college through library access. Out of 120 copies of the questionnaire administered to the students in Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, 114 (99%) were returned and used for the analysis. The researchers collected the data through face-to-face administration of questionnaire. Five research questions and two hypotheses were used for the study. The data generated were interpreted using percentages and frequencies; mean and standard deviation through Likert scaling of the responses where applicable. Based on this result, the students’ knowledge about the methods of Library Instruction Programmes (LIP) course in Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo are classroom teaching, library orientation, library guide and ask a librarian. It was inferred that the students’ rate of understanding of the Library Instruction Programme topics is high and the rate of students’ use of Library resources in Adeyemi College of Education Library is low. The challenges that students experience during Library Instruction Programme course in Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo are non utilization of ICT for library instruction, inadequate classroom for library instruction, shortage of staff (librarians) to instruct students, lack of interest in library instruction programme among others. The paper concluded that students in Adeyemi College of Education understand some of the concepts of Library Instruction Programme (LIP) without any basis on gender differences. However, the services in the library were under explored. It was therefore recommended that librarians should sensitize the users more on the services provided in the library for optimal satisfaction of the users. And that the challenges of the students in the course LIP should be tackled by the lecturers and college authority for the benefits of getting desired results in the students’ knowledge of the course for maximal utilization of the library resources

    The study was conducted to show Library Information Services Seeking Behaviour among Students of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Nigeria The research design for the study was descriptive survey research design. The population comprises all the students (Degree Students) in Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo. 100 undergraduates were sampled. Random sampling technique was also used for the study. Therefore the sample size of the study was one hundred. A 6-section research instrument adapted by the researcher was used in the study. The researchers collected the data through face-to-face administration of questionnaire. The study shows that the students’ level of awareness about the library services in the college library of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo is high. However, it can be inferred that the rate of satisfaction with the library services in the college library of ACE, Ondo is low

    A Survey of Information Literacy Skills among Undergraduates of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Nigeria.

    Abstract This study reported about information literacy among undergraduates in Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Nigeria. Six research questions guided the study. Survey method was used for the study. 150 copies of questionnaire were administered to the respondents but 147 copies were filled and returned. Analysis was done using simple statistical tools of frequency counts, percentage and bar chart. The study revealed that undergraduate students of Adeyemi College of Education are fully aware of the concept Information Literacy Skills. It also indicated that the courses that undergraduate students of Adeyemi College of Education are taught Information Literacy Skills are Library Instruction Programme and Use of Computer among others. The findings show that the problems encountered by the undergraduate students of Adeyemi College of Education in the learning of information literacy skills are overcrowded class; inadequate learning equipment and poor/inadequate information literacy evaluation and assessment. It concludes that librarians and teachers in the field should strongly make collaborated effort in teaching information literacy in the college using modern equipment

    The study is on online information resources utilization among students in Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Nigeria. Five research questions guided the research work. 150 copies of questionnaire were administered to students through face to face method in order to collect data. Simple Random sampling technique was also used for the study. In the data analysis, frequency counts, simple percentages, mean and standard deviation were used for the statistical analysis. The findings revealed that that the level of students’ awareness of online information resources in Adeyemi College of Education Library is low. It also indicated the level of students’ of online information resources is low. However, with the little awareness, online information resources is mainly used for academic work. The findings show the major challenges confronting students’ use of information resources as high cost of internet subscription, unstable power supply and slow internet speed. The paper concluded and recommended that the lecturers should give assignments to students and tell them to go for online sources in doing it

    The study is on assessment of library and information science (LIS) professional skills among librarians in Bab Fafunwa Library, Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Nigeria. Total population sampling research design was used for the study. The population comprised all the librarians in Bab Fafunwa Library, Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo. Questionnaire was the research instrument was used for the study. The researchers collected the data through face-to-face administration of questionnaire. In the data analysis, frequency counts, simple percentages, mean and standard deviation were used for the statistical analysis. . Based on the result, the various personal professional skills among the librarians in Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo are: analytical skill, creative skill, flexibility skill, reflective skill, adaptability skill, enthusiastic skill, self-motivation skill and soft skill (interpersonal) and other research questions were treated as well. It was recommended that there should be provision of fund for the acquisition of training facilities and materials for the training. Consequently, librarians will be able to render efficient services in term of discharging professional duties with standard and ethics especially in information provision. Services in the library become more attractive and glaring to the users as a result of this training and this will always draw the users’ interest to the resources in the library and thus the library become active, functional and practically operative

    Abstract The research was on awareness, accessibility and use of serial publications among undergraduate students of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo. Five research questions guided the study. 100 copies of questionnaire were administered to the respondents in the College Library through face to face method in order to collect data. Simple Random sampling technique was also used for the study. In the data analysis, frequency counts, simple percentages, mean and standard deviation were used for the statistical analysis. The findings revealed that that the level of students’ awareness of serial materials in Adeyemi College of Education Library is low. It also indicated the level of students’ use of serial publications in the Library as low. The findings show the challenges confronting students’ use of serial materials in the Library as poor internet services, lack of up-to-date serial collections, mutilations of the materials, unfriendly attitude of serial staff and inability to use journals for research. The paper concluded that the users are fairly aware of the serial publications available in the library and this could be the reason for poor use. The study recommended that proper awareness should be created among students for maximum utilization of the serial publications
