No full textThe technical mapping objective was to identify the services the OPERAS Consortium would have to develop in the future and the method of implementing them in a fully distributed infrastructure. To achieve this objective, OPERAS must first know better its own technical environment, which is very diverse and uneven and then involve users to identify clearly what services are needed by the stakeholder communities.
The technical mapping of the OPERAS environment is meant to provide a global description of the technical, organisational and information systems within the OPERAS Consortium. OPERAS Design Study

The report joins four studies that explore the landscape of OPERAS’ field of activity, establish the technical mapping of the OPERAS Consortium, survey users’ needs regarding scientific communication and academic publishing, and finally look ahead to the development of the governance structure and business model of the future infrastructure within the ESFRI framework.

OPERAS Exploitation Guide
No full textThe OPERAS-D (Design) project supports the 9 main partners (“core group”) of the OPERAS network
in the development of a European e-infrastructure for open access publications in the SSH. The project
addresses long-term requirements for the development of the e-infrastructure and community
building, as well as seeks to expand other interested parties within and beyond Europe, and in diverse
fields of the SSH. To achieve this goal, the key objectives of the OPERAS-D project are to prepare a
design study that defines governance models, structures and scientific and technical concepts for
future services that the infrastructure will provide and establishes a roadmap to achieve these goals
according to the requirements for long term sustainability. OPERAS-D engages the current and future
partners in the OPERAS network to strengthen the community and develop the network of partners
participating in OPERAS across Europe, specifically in central European countries.
Task 5.5, Exploitation Strategy, outlines the exploitation strategy of OPERAS and describes how the
consortium and project partners will seek to exploit the results of the project. This Deliverable 5.3,
Exploitation guide, is the result of Task 5.5. The current version is the first draft of D5.3, to be finalized
by April 30. The task is part of WP 5 – Dissemination, communication and exploitation (M1-18), which
deals with awareness, outreach, in-reach, engagement and collective exploitation actions to maximise
the impact of the project during the project and afterwards.
The aim of the exploitation strategy is to outline how the results of the OPERAS-D project will be used.
As OPERAS-D is a project to prepare all future activities of OPERAS, the exploitation of the project
results is an integral part of the project
ESFRI Landscape Study - Annex to OPERAS Design Study
No full textThe ambitions of OPERAS to provide pan-European infrastructure and services for open access to social science and humanities research requires widespread coordination and support, as well as funding from supporting countries. This can best be achieved by application to the Roadmap of the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) which supports the development and implementation of mature pan-European research infrastructures. This study will describe the purpose, origins and development of ESFRI, and will introduce some of the projects and landmarks already on the ESFRI Roadmap that bear similarities with OPERAS. It will also describe the typical lifecycle of an ESFRI project, and the governance and legal structures that have typically been adopted by other ESFRIs, in order to help inform the OPERAS consortium in its application to the ESFRI Roadmap

No full textThe OPERAS-P project (early-Phase) will support OPERAS, furthering the development of the infrastructure in view of achieving the necessary scientific, technical and community maturity. OPERAS (open scholarly communication in the european research area for social sciences and humanities) objective is to establish a common framework for openscholarly communication, particularly in SSH.
OPERAS-P specific objectives are: producing the necessary documentation defining OPERAS strategy and implementation to support ESFRI application, supporting the preparation phase of the infrastructure by implementing a legal framework, a governance and support the implementation and coordination of services, prepare a long-term, evidence-based strategy for the development of the infrastructure and its services, ensure outreach and advocacy for open scholarly communication in SSH, developing a communication strategy on the infrastructure and supporting the expansion of the consortium, and enhancing innovation for the future of scholarly communication practices in SSH.
The main data collected will be survey data on one hand and reports on the other hand. Various surveys will be conducted to collect information on current usage, needs and expectations regarding SSH open access publishing practices. Based on these results, reports will describe the existing technological and functional landscape and also the prospective for the future OPERAS e-infrastructure
