Acceptance of Blended Learning in a Developing Country: The Role of Learning Styles
Get PDFThe study investigates factors that lead to the acceptance of blended learning in a developing country. Descriptive analysis, Principal component analysis and Regression analysis were adopted in this study. Data was obtained from 204 undergraduate students. Data analysis was carried out using frequency distributions and regression analysis. The findings revealed that a significant relationship exists between performance expectancy and facilitating conditions in the acceptance of blended learning in Nigeria .Also, students showed more interest in course related readings and course materials and less interest on discussion with lecturers and discussion with classmates. Performance expectancy is a major determinant in the acceptance of blended learning by students. Findings revealed a relationship between learning styles of students and the adoption of blended learning
Determinants of Electronic Book Adoption in Nigeria
Get PDFThe study examined the adoption of electronic books (e-books) among undergraduate students in Kwara State,
Nigeria using the unified theory of technology acceptance and use model (UTAUT), with a view to understanding
the factors that lead to its adoption. The population consisted of 300 undergraduate students from federal, state and
private universities in Kwara State, Nigeria. Results showed that usage of electronic books in scholarly databases,
procured by the library, was relatively low, with more than 50 per cent of respondents claiming to have used
e-books only once. Students in federal and state universities showed preference for e-books while private university
students showed preference for paper books. In examining the intention to adopt e-books, using the UTAUT model,
results showed that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence and facilitating conditions were
major determinants of e-book adoption, while gender played a moderating role. Performance expectancy and effort
expectance significantly influenced male students, while effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions
influenced female students significantly. It is paramount for university administrators to encourage the adoption of
electronic books by promoting a lecturer-student model and improving the user interface to encourage the use of
these resources.

Evaluation of Web Information Sources for Academic Purposes by Undergraduate Students in a Developing country
Get PDFThe study examined the web information seeking behavior of undergraduate students by evaluating information sources for academic purpose on the web. Three hundred questionnaires were distributed evaluating students perceptions on information sources on the web. Descriptive analysis, One-Way ANOVA was carried out in the analysis of data using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software. The study revealed that relevance of the information source was a major criterion for evaluation among undergraduate students in Landmark University. It was further revealed that undergraduate students showed preference for search engines as the preferred information source medium on the web as more than 50% of students rated accessibility and authority on search engines high. Results obtained from the study further revealed the need to improve information literacy skills and the information retrieval skills of undergraduate students in Nigeria

pertinent due to numerous benefits that blogs proffer. Three hundred questionnaires were distributed exploring perceptions of
students. Descriptive analysis was carried out in the analysis of data using thee Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS)
software. Majority of students were aware of blogs though they still had insufficient information of its use in learning, also
students were more interested in the benefits of creative thinking, dissemination of information and ability to view pictures and
videos of concepts as well as discussion with classmates. However privacy issues, solitary learning and insufficient information
still limited the adoption of blogs in learning in Nigeria. There is a need for university administrators to create an enabling
environment for intellectual exchange by aligning the university curriculum to promote creative thinking, collaborative learning
and visualization of concepts in learning.

Student Acceptance of E-books ; A Case Study of landmark University Undergraduate Students
No full textThis study explained the factors that influence the acceptance of e-books by students in Landmark University. The study was carried out using survey method. Questionnaire was used to collect data for this study. A total of 300 sets of questionnaire were distributed to undergraduate students of Landmark University of which 287 were returned. The Questionnaire consisted majorly on close ended questions. The design was guided by the UTAUT model. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data from close-ended questions and reliability test was carried out on the UTAUT constructs to tests its validity in research after which factor analysis was carried out and variables were computed .Regression analysis was also carried out to test the UTAUT model.The study shows that majority of respondents were aware of e-books but 46.6% of respondents had used e-books only once. E -Library was noted to be the e-book database majorly used by students. It was also noted that majority of students found out about e-books from lecturers and colleagues. Student acceptance of e-books was tested using UTAUT model. Performance expectancy Effort expectancy and Facilitating conditions were seen to significantly influence the acceptance of e-books by students in Landmark University, while Social Influence did not influence acceptance of e-books
