No full textThe family Carangidae contains several species of aquaculture interest, including the amberjacks, yellowtails and trevallies. Among them, the greater amberjack (Seriola dumerili), the Japanese amberjack or yellowtail (Seriola quinqueradiata) and the yellowtail kingfish (Seriola lalandi) are considered the species with the highest potential for commercial aquaculture. Understanding the reproductive physiology–biology, spawning kinetics and production characteristics in captivity are of utmost importance for the domestication of any animal, and developing broodstock management methods and therapies to optimize egg production and overcome potential reproductive dysfunctions are essential. The present article reviews the available literature on the reproductive biology of the Carangidae species of interest for the aquaculture industry, both in the wild and under farming conditions. The reproductive traits of wild and farmed fish, whenever available, were compared in order to improve the understanding of the reproductive dysfunctions occurring in captivity. Finally, the hormonal maturation and spawning induction protocols examined so far to ameliorate the reproductive dysfunctions and obtain fertile gametes are summarized, and their effectiveness in the different rearing conditions is discussed

No full textWith a view to clarifying a few interesting points on the peerage system of the Wei of the Three Dynasties period, firstly the author takes up the process of formation of the Ts'ao-Wei peerage, where it consisted of the five-grade peerage of the Chou period, the lieh-hou 列侯 and khuan-nei-hou 關内侯 titles after the Ch'in-Han system, and the peerage created by Wei itself. Secondly, the author discusses the size of the lieh-hou and khuan-nei-hou fiefs in terms of household and their inner structure. Lastly, the author points out that heir apparency was widened under the Wei, though the "inheritance by real son" principle of the Han period was still in practice. In view of the fact that fiefs were sometimes divided even in the life-time of lord the author relates the Wei peerage to its noble lineage system

<p>The frequency of a web search keyword generally reflects the degree of public interest in a particular subject matter. Search logs are therefore useful resources for trend analysis. However, access to search logs is typically restricted to search engine providers. In this paper, we investigate whether search frequency can be estimated from a different resource such as Wikipedia page views of open data. We found frequently searched keywords to have remarkably high correlations with Wikipedia page views. This suggests that Wikipedia page views can be an effective tool for determining popular global web search trends.</p>

Lett. 75, 2193 (1999) and may be found at https://doi.org/10.1063/1.124961.Soluble star-like branched organosilicon compounds having silanylene and oligothienylene in their arms are stable in vacuum upon light irradiation, and remain highly light emissive, but degrade upon light irradiation in air. Though the change of absorption spectrum upon light irradiation is not so large, photoluminescence (PL) intensity is strongly suppressed without notable change in spectrum shape. Remarkable shortening of PL decay time due to degradation upon light irradiation in air has been confirmed by time-resolved PL measurement. These results are discussed in terms of scission of Si–Si bonds and oxidation. Optical recording utilizing photoinduced insolubilization of these materials has also been demonstrated
The Relationship Between Formation of the "Sajok" (Local elite) Lineage and "Up" (Regional Space) in Early Modern Korea : A Case Study of An-dong Kwon Family in Tanseong
No full textIn this paper, the author attempts to analyse the process of formation of the An-dong Kwon family and its lineage, which was known as a sajok based on Tanseong area in south part of the Korea peninsula in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Mainly by studying four kinds of nominal sources, the "hojok" (household register book), the "chokpo" (genealogical book), the "hyangan" (list of regional elite) and the anthologies of sajok members, the author comes to the conclusion as follows. 1. Before the sixteenth century, the sajok spread all parts of Korea by marriages and migrations. 2. The authority of the sajok based on local area was maintained by their legitimated behavior as a Confucian and their familial group's appointment as bureaucrat, and was reproduced by their lineage union. 3. Migrations of the local sajoks across the boundary of their ups disappeared in the eighteenth century. They shaped their lineage union within the up, which served as the primary geographical limit

The author proposes four alternative patterns on which to base a twenty-four hour securities market and concludes that linking exchanges in different time zones, along the lines of the foreign exchange market, represents the most realistic possibility. The author warns, however, that current trends towards standardization do not necessarily represent the creation of a global market or even the desire for one. The competitive nature of stock exchanges must be recognized by market regulators in striving towards this goal
