A Model for Mind-Device Dialectic and the Future of Advertising in the Social Media Age
Every advertisement text has a specific impact on the mind of receivers. Just like a water-mill or wind mill, human mind develops a specific systematic interaction against different advertisement texts. This section focuses on how information presented and carried by different texts are built on human mind. The basic aim is to reveal how advertisement texts operate human mind. In this sense, the authors try to understand the impact of analogue media on our minds through discussing the nature of science, the way human mind operates, and the structure of mass communication means. On top of that, the authors visualize this interaction on a model. This model would not only make it possible for us to understand our interaction with analogue media but also would give clues about digital media. With these clues, it would be possible to make predictions about changing advertising environment, and accordingly the way of making more effective strategies and future of advertising sector. </jats:p

#nofulltext# --- Bolat, Nursel (Arel Author)The objective of this research is to investigate financial institutions on social media; their strategies and the ways they deal with customers in the light of the process of globalisation. The objective material is ING Bank and its Facebook site within the process of its institutional expansion worldwide. On four continents, Asia, Europe, North America and Australia; four countries Australia, Canada, India and Turkey are investigated comparatively. For almost ten years, social media using among banking companies has had a remarkable rise especially on Facebook. ING Bank, which was awarded “the most successful effective banking management” in Eastern Europe in 2012, is one of them. The research investigates how far the bank achieves this success online; the discourses between the bank and its customers on Facebook pages. Discourse analysis and semiological analysis are applied to four categories —advertisements, feedbacks, surveys and social activities on Facebook pages in four countries of an international bank within a three month’s period

WOS: 000416704600022#nofulltext# --- Bolat, Nursel (Arel Author)In tile art, one of the world-famous Turkish handicrafts, a wide variety of patterns are used on tile objects. The most common of these, after the tulip pattern, is the naturalist clove pattern. Different meanings are assigned to this pattern within the boundaries of form, color, and design. Identification and perception of these meanings has a special place within the frame of the culture that they relay. In this present study, the fields of meaning of the clove pattern frequently used in tile decoration arts among Turkish handicrafts are determined. By taking Greimas' Actantial Model as the theoretical model visual discourse analysis of the clove pattern is made
A Model Proposal for Advertising Aestheticization
Owing to aesthetic components that advertisement texts generally have, advertisements are sometimes perceived as a genre of art by some circles. The study is based upon a perspective presented by an interdisciplinary background, and it acknowledges a paradigm that advertising is not a genre of art; it obviously pursues commercial profits and within this context, exploits the created aesthetics in product. The main objective of the study, which focuses on advertising aesthetic fundamentally, is to build a scientific model formulating some levels of aestheticisation during its production process. Formulation in question has been reconstructed on theoretical and applied literature
