Sonuç olarak; "kalecilerin vücut yağ oranlarının yüksek, çoklu sıçrama sırasmda da yaratılan ortalama güç bakımından düşük, çoklu sıçrama anındaki sıçrama sayılarının yüksek çıkmış olması" kaleciler, yetenek seçiminde ve hentbol takım antrenmanlarında ikinci planda değerlendiriliyorlar diye düşünüle bilinir38 SUMMARY The purpose of this study was to compare physical and physiological characteristics of professional handball players in terms of positions that they play in the game of handball. Thirty men and 30 women, who play for Turkish National Handball Teams, were used as subject pool. Their average age, weight and height measurements were 19.91±2.04, 70.26±10.61, 178.69Ü0.14, respectively. SPSS 9.05 for Windows packet program was used to analyze the data. According to statistical analyses, There were statistically significant differences in percent body fat of the handball players by favoring the goalkeepers. On the other hand, no significant difference was found in terms of percent body fat between pivots and goalkeepers. There were no statistically significant differences in flexibility measurements (sit-reach test and trunk flexibility) of the handball players. In Ergo Jump measurements (squat jump, active jump, explosive power, and average vertical jump) no statistical significance were found. Moreover, the power that was generated during the multiple jumps by goalkeepers and middle playmakers were statistically higher than that of the rest of the players. The average jump count of women handball players showed differences among the positions played. The numbers of jumps of goalkeepers were significantly higher than that of middle and right play makers. Men handball players also showed differences in same independent variable in which the number of consecutive jumps of goalkeepers and pivot were significantly higher than right wings, middle play maker. No statistically differences were found in the analyze of reaction time and grip strength measurement of handball players. As a conclusion, because of goalkeepers' lower percent body fat, lower power generated during multiple jumps and higher numbers of consecutive jumps, it could have been comprehend that goalkeepers are treated as a second class players in the handball training and also in talent identification

Facile enhancement of the active catalytic sites of N-doped graphene as a high performance metal-free electrocatalyst for oxygen reduction reaction

    No full text
A simple and facile N-doping process has been developed to prepare graphene nanosheets with a high loading of active catalytic sites through the combination of hydrothermal and microwave processes. High resolution transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Raman analysis have been used to characterize the morphology and composition of the prepared materials. Also, linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) was conducted to investigate the electrocatalytic performance of the N-doped specimens toward oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). It was revealed that post-treatment of hydrothermally-treated N-doped graphenes under microwave irradiation in the presence of nitrogen precursor can result in the formation of a large content of quaternary nitrogen functionalities. Also, the LSV analysis revealed that fabrication of the graphene nanosheets under the proposed N-doping strategy resulted in potent electrocatalytic activity of graphene nanosheets toward ORR through a four electron pathway. © 20181

Apart from being an exceptionally intelligent writer, religious scholar Reza Aslan is quickly gaining a reputation for being one of the most patient men on television.More than once, he has painstakingly explained to TV hosts that their less-than-sophisticated stands on Islam may be founded on flimsy and dangerous assumptions. He gained international recognition for his Fox News interview that went viral, and more recently, Aslan’s nuanced response to Bill Maher’s rant.Aslan returned to Vancouver to unpack the arguments around religion and violence. Touching on a range of topics from identity to ISIS, Aslan argued that no religion exists in a vacuum. Every faith is rooted in the soil in which it is planted.“Using two or three examples to justify a generalization. That’s actually the definition of bigotry.” – Reza Aslan (response to Bill Maher)Reza Aslan, an internationally acclaimed writer and scholar of religions, is author of the #1 New York Times Bestseller Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth. He is the founder of AslanMedia, a social media network for news and entertainment about the Middle East and the world, and co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of BoomGen Studios, the premier entertainment brand for creative content from and about the Greater Middle East. Aslan’s first book is the International Bestseller, No god but God: The Origins, Evolution, and Future of Islam, which has been translated into seventeen languages, and named one of the 100 most important books of the last decade. He is also the author of How to Win a Cosmic War, as well as editor of two volumes: Tablet and Pen: Literary Landscapes from the Modern Middle East, and Muslims and Jews in America: Commonalities, Contentions, and Complexities. Born in Iran, he lives in Los Angeles with his wife (author and entrepreneur Jessica Jackley). When Aslan is not working on his own writing, he serves as a writing consultant in television on the upcoming show, DIG, with Tim Kring and Gideon Raff

We generalize the symplectically-defined link homology theory developed by Paul Seidel and Ivan Smith to an invariant of tangles. We obtain a group-valued invariant, a functor-valued (or symplectic-valued functor) invariant and an ay functor-valued one for tangles. We provide evidence for the equivalence of this invariant with Khovanov's combinatorially defined invariant by showing the equivalence for flat (crossingless) tangles and their cobordisms. We also obtain an exact triangle for the Seidel-Smith invariant similar to that of Khovanov.Ph.D.Includes bibliographical references (p. 91-93)by Reza Rezazadega

Interactions of L-3,5,3'-Triiodothyronine, Allopregnanolone, and Ivermectin with the GABAA Receptor: Evidence for Overlapping Intersubunit Binding Modes

    No full text
Structural mechanisms of modulation of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) type A receptors by neurosteroids and hormones remain unclear. The thyroid hormone L-3,5,3’-triiodothyronine (T3) inhibits GABA-A receptors at micromolar concentrations and has common features with neurosteroids such as allopregnanolone (ALLOP). Here we use functional experiments on α2β1γ2 GABA-A receptors expressed in Xenopus oocytes to detect competitive interactions between T3 and an agonist (ivermectin, IVM) with a crystallographically determined binding site at subunit interfaces in the transmembrane domain of a homologous receptor (glutamate-gated chloride channel, GluCl). T3 and ALLOP also show competitive effects, supporting the presence of both a T3 and ALLOP binding site at one or more subunit interfaces. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations over 200 ns are used to investigate the dynamics and energetics of T3 in the identified intersubunit sites. In these simulations, T3 molecules occupying all intersubunit sites (with the exception of the α-β interface) display numerous energetically favorable conformations with multiple hydrogen bonding partners, including previously implicated polar/acidic sidechains and a structurally conserved deformation in the M1 backbone.Peer reviewe
