AZİZ NİKOLAS VE DEMRE AZİZ NİKOLAS KİLİSESİ
No full textAnadolu’nun çeşitli bölgelerinde Hıristiyanlık’ta kutsal kişi olarak kabul edilen azizler yaşamışlardır. Bu azizlerden biri de çalışmamızın temel konusu olan Antalya/Demre bölgesinde yaşamış olan Aziz Nikolas’tır. Aziz Nikolas, modern ve popüler kültürde Santa Claus olarak bilinmesiyle birlikte özellikle Batı’da Noel Baba figürüyle resmedilip dini bir karakter olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Aziz Nikolas, Myra’da piskoposluğu sırasında bölge halkına ve farklı bölgelerdeki insanlara gösterdiği mucizelerle yardımcı olmuş ve onların Hıristiyanlığa olan inançlarını kuvvetlendirmiştir. Onun gösterdiği mucizeler, yaşadığı bölgede ve Batı’da tanınmasında etkili olmuştur. Özellikle Ortodoks Kilisesi tarafından büyük azizlerden kabul edilmiştir. Batılı toplumlarda iyiliksever, yardımsever, çocukların sevgilisi olarak tanımlanan Noel Baba, pagan kültürünün etkisiyle Aziz Nikolas ile özdeşleştirilmiştir. Özellikle 20. ve 21. Yüzyılda değişen toplum dinamikleri ve ekonomik gayelerin etkisiyle Noel Baba toplumun tüketim aracı haline gelmiştir.
Noel Baba tasvirlerinde anlatıldığı gibi kutuplarda yaşamamış, Akdeniz’in sıcak iklim bölgelerinde hayatını sürdürmüştür. Akdeniz’e kıyısı olan Antalya’nın Demre ilçesinde Aziz Nikolas adına 6. Yüzyılda bir kilise yapılmıştır. Demre Aziz Nikolas Kilisesi’nde bulunan tarihi eserler ve kilise duvarlarında bulunan tasvirler mimari açıdan kilisenin özgünlüğünü göstermektedir. Ayrıca Ortodoks Hıristiyanlar, Demre Aziz Nikolas Kilisesi’ni hac merkezi olarak kabul etmektedirler. Demre Aziz Nikolas Kilisesi’nin hac merkezi olması başta ülke turizmi olmak üzere kilisenin bulunduğu bölgeye sosyal, ekonomik, kültürel katkı sağlamaktadır

Overall synthesis and conclusions
No full textThis chapter first systematically summarizes the most important findings and policy implications of each of the chapters included in this book volume. Next it synthesizes the overall findings and policy implications, and discusses future avenues for policy making and research. A first conclusion is that the chapters make clear that the ranges in policy relevant implications of AVs, within the scope of each chapter/topic, are still relatively broad. Secondly we conclude that research that is conceptually rich is more valuable for policy making. Thirdly we hypothesize that context matters for the uptake, impacts, and specific system design characteristics of real world AV implementation. Fourth we conclude that research on the global south has been limited so far. Fifth we argue that AVs, shared vehicles and electric vehicles (EVs) might stimulate each other in a positive way, in all directions. Finally we conclude that AVs will have wider societal implications, such as in the area of land use, accessibility, social exclusion, governmental expenditures, the labor market, and the environment. The more indirect the effects of AVs are, the more difficult they are to understand. For policy making a first conclusion is that the issues of ethics, cyber security and data protection deserve way more attention than they currently get. We also conclude that future motorway network extensions might not be no-regret anymore, because of possible congestion reductions due to AVs, but also because of decreasing marginal values of time.
