Modelled outputs for "A data derived workflow for reservoir operations (in global hydrologic models)" (Steyaert et al., 2025)
Contains storage fraction and discharge for all four of the simulations in the analysis of 'A data derived workflow for reservoir operations (in global hydrologic models)' (Steyaert et al., 2025). Each model scenario has its own folder that can be referenced based on Table 2 in the Steyaert et al., 2025. Model outputs are then divided into two folders: discharge and storage, which contain the necessary PCR-GLOBWB 2 variables used for this analysis. The maskGlobal.nc contains a netcdf that references the basin number ( denoted as 01 - 53) in the individual variable folders to the spatial region that it encompasses.
The data is provided in 5 subfolders. Detailed information about the files in these subfolders as well as information on how the data is processed is given in the explanatory file Readme_ReservoirData.rtf. For more information, please contact Jennie C. Steyaert ([email protected]) or Niko Wanders ([email protected])
Modelled outputs for " Data derived reservoir operations simulated in a global hydrologic model" (Steyaert et al., 2025)
Contains storage fraction and discharge for all five of the simulations in the analysis of ' Data derived reservoir operations simulated in a global hydrologic model' (Steyaert et al., 2025). Each of the five model scenarios has its own folder. The five main models in our analysis can be referenced based on Table 2 in Steyaert et al., 2025. The noCA model was an addition after revisions and therefore contains model runs using the Turner operational scheme and no downstream command area.
The data is provided in 6 subfolders. Detailed information about the files in these subfolders as well as information on how the data is processed is given in the explanatory file Readme_ReservoirData.rtf. Futurestreams dataset
Repository of discharge and water temperature scenarios derived from 5 CMIP5 GCMs from the ISI-MIP project computed by the global water balance model PCRGLOBWB and the global water temperature model DynWat.
Data are provided on a weekly temporal resolution and 10km spatial resolution. 4 Representative Concentration Pathways are presented, RCP2.6, RCP4.5, RCP6.0 and RCP8.5, up to 2099. The historical simulations are also provide for 1976 - 2005. A historical simulation derived from E2O reanalysis data is also provided.
Data access is currently restricted, and will become directly available once the accompanying Data Descriptor (currently under review) is published.

Data supplement to "A first attempt to model global hydrology at hyper-resolution"
Hyper resolution (~1km) estimates of global river discharge at the monthly and annual temporal frequency. Estimates are produced the first attempt of a truly global implementation of PCR-GLOBWB, a global hydrological and water use model. We encourage users to contact Barry van Jaarsveld ([email protected]) or Niko Wanders ([email protected]) for model outputs not available here
PCR-GLOBWB output - 4dHydro working package 5
4dHydro working package 5 is dedicated to provided a set of land-surface and hydrological model community outputs for several calibration/assimilation experiments. These experiments include simulations over different resolutions and calibration/assimilation with earth-observed (EO) satellite products. The aim of these experiments is to investigate the added value of EO products for hydrological simulations. This data package contains the outputs for the PCR-GLOBWB hydrological model (globalhydrology.nl/research/models/pcr-globwb-2-0), which was developed at Utrecht University. See https://opensciencedata.4dhydro.eu/ for links to outputs from other models. Outputs are formatted according to the 4dHydro working package 5 storage protocol. For more information, please contact Bram Droppers ([email protected]) or Niko Wanders ([email protected])

PCR-GLOBWB community reference output - 4dHydro working package 2
4dHydro working package 2 is dedicated to provided a set of land-surface and hydrological model community reference outputs. The community reference outputs are a set of hydrological simulation outputs from various land-surface and hydrological models from previous studies. Therefore, these outputs represent the current state-of-the-art in hydrological modeling (i.e. before the improvements made in this project) and are used as a baseline reference for the rest of the project.
This datapackage contains the outputs for the PCR-GLOBWB hydrological model (globalhydrology.nl/research/models/pcr-globwb-2-0), which was developed at Utrecht University. See https://opensciencedata.4dhydro.eu/ for links to outputs from other models. Outputs are formatted according to the 4dHydro working package 2 storage protocol.
