    This is a newspaper clipping published by the New York Times on June 24, 1918. There are articles present on this document. The first article titled "Work in Y.M.C.A. Tent, Shelled and on Fire" and talks about the experiences of Y.M.C.A workers during World War I, including dealing with a German attack on their tent. Springfield College alum, Alfred Stokes is mentioned in the article as carrying out the wounded solders. His name is underlined in the article. The second article titled, "Hun Flier Attacks Y.M.C.A" and talks about an attack by a German airplane on a Y.M.C.A canteen automobile.This item was original held loose within a bound book titled “War-Work Courses in Great War, 1917-1918 Incomplete.” This volume was unbound and its contents foldered in the original order, which is chronological. The binding string was cut and the glue was removed with a razor blade. The edges are intact and the placement of stitches are visible. Each page or booklet was individually lifted out of the binding and placed in their own folder or a folder with like materials. Oversized materials were removed and placed in the oversized materials collection
