Secure Deletion: Towards Tailor-Made Privacy in Database Systems
No full textIn order to ensure a secure data life cycle, it is necessary to delete sensitive data in a forensic secure way. Current state of the art in common database systems is not to provide secure deletion at all. There exist academic demonstrators that address some aspects of secure deletion. However, they are limited to their deletion approach. We argue, due to different data sensitivity levels (probably even on attribute level) and differences in policies (e.g., time when and how a data item has to be deleted), it is necessary to have a standardized, user defined opportunity to enforce secure data deletion in a forensic secure manner. Our literature analysis reveals that most approaches are based on overwriting the data. Thus, in this paper, we examine how it is possible to integrate user-defined overwriting procedures to allow a customizable deletion process based on existing default interfaces to minimize the integration overhead. In general, we propose an extension of SQL and a page propagation strategy allowing the integration of a user defined deletion procedure

The image of illness in Veit Stoss’s works of art
No full textThe article takes up the issue of ideological connections between the philosophy of man developed in the 15th century by the Cracovian masters from the Universitatis Cracoviensis and Cracovian Gothic art, above all the sculptures created by Veit Stoss in his Cracovian period. The German master-carver showed in his Cracovian Altarpiece a vast range of individual portrait-studies, realistic and naturalistic in character. During the Cracovian period some essential transformations took place in Veit Stoss’s oeuvre. He created naturalistic portrait-studies unknown in the European art of the time, depicting even pathological changes, such as cancerous skin lesions,which Stoss perceived on the human body. We have known – on the basis of archival sources – that Veit Stoss maintained friendly contacts with Jan of Głogów, author of the treatise Physionomia hincinde ex illustribus scriptoribus per venerabilem virum magistrum Joannem Glogoviensem diligentissime recol lecta, printed in Kraków in 1518. I wish to prove that the content of this treatise – includingtheissueofskindiseases – found its reflection in the art of one of the leading sculptors of the late medieval Europe
"Flexible response" der Kirche. Das französische Kommunikationsprojekt des Renouveau catholique
No full textDer "Renouveau catholique" war eine französische Schriftstellerbewegung engagierter katholischer Laien, die in der Regel auch als Journalisten arbeiten. In Absetzungvom französisch-republikanischen Staatsmodell vertraten sie zunächst den katholischen Glauben in Frankreichs Kultur. Georges Bernanos und Francois Mauriac, prominenteste Vertreter des Renouveau catholique, sind dabei typisch, insofern ihr Engagement für den Katholizismus vor allem auf der Grundlage der Eigenverantwortlichkeit und Unabhängigkeit basierte. Die Verwirklichung dieser beiden Werte war möglich aufgrund der dezentralen Kommunikationsstruktur der Bewegung, die sich allerdings ebenfalls in der deutlichen Kritikfähigkeit der Autoren gegenüber anderen Publizisten der Bewegung artikulierte. Zwar scheiterten verschiedene gemeinsame Projekte des Renouveau catholique im publizistischen und frömmigkeitspraktischen Bereich. Letztlich jedoch kam die stark ausgeprägte Unabhängigkeit der Glaubwürdigkeit und damit der Präsenz des Katholizismus in Frankreichs säkularisierter Kultur nur zugute.EnglishVeit Konrad Andre Neumann: Flexible Answers of the Church. The French Project for Communications of the Renouveau catholique The "Renouveau catholique" - the catholic renewal -was a French lay movement of dedicated catholic authors, who as a general rule also worked as journalists. Rejecting the French-Republican model of state, they wanted to represent catholic faith within the culturallife of France. Georges Bernanos and Francois Mauriac, the mostprominent representatives of the Renouveau catholique, were insofar characteristic as their engagement for Catholicism mainly based itself upon one\u27s own accoun- tability and independence. The realisation of these values was possible because of the decentralised communication structure of the movement, which also manifested itself in the explicit possibility of each author to criticize other publicists of the movement. Due to this structure, various common projects of the Renoveau catholique failed. At the end, however, the movement\u27s distinctive independence strengthened its public credibi- lity and thereby supported the presence of Catholicism within the secularized culture of France.
Entwicklung eines Roboterprüfstands für das autonome Testen des Lawinenverschüttetensuchgeräts DIRACT und des Lawinen Airbag Systems Litric der Firma Ortovox
No full textOrtovox (Ortovox Sportartikel GmbH, Taufkirchen, DE) ist ein Sportartikelhersteller, der aus der Idee gegründet wurde, den Bergsport sicherer zu gestalten. Dieses Ziel wird seit über 40 Jahren verfolgt und es werden immer neue Fortschritte erzielt. In dieser Masterarbeit, die in Kooperation mit der Firma Ortovox entstanden und umgesetzt wurde, geht es darum, die Funktionsfähigkeit von Geräten unter Dauerbelastung zu testen, um deren Einsatz langfristig zu gewährleisten.Anhand eines Lastenheftes soll ein Roboterprüfstand entstehen, der beim Testen von Sicherheitsausrüstung, insbesondere der Lawinenverschüttetensuchgeräte (LVS) und Lawinenrucksäcke (LR), eingesetzt werden kann. Hierbei soll dieser sowohl bestehende Tests automatisieren als auch neue Tests ermöglichen. Eine besonders große Hilfe ist die Automatisierung bei der Ausführung von zeitintensiven Dauertests, die teilweise überhaupt erst durch diesen ermöglicht werden.Für die Umsetzung des Projekts wurde ein Konzept entwickelt, das durch die Verwendung von drei Schrittmotoren in der Lage ist, alle Tasten, Schalter und Hebel, die an dem LVS-Gerät Diract und am LR Litric von Ortovox verbaut sind, zu bedienen. Das ermöglicht es, die Geräte physisch zu bedienen und verschiedene Funktionen zu testen. Zusätzlich wurde ein Programmcode geschrieben, der eine einfache Steuerung und Neuprogrammierung des Prüftisches zulässt.Erste Testläufe haben erfolgreich gezeigt, dass der Prüftisch alle erforderlichen Kriterien des Pflichtenheftes erfüllt. Somit steht einem praktischen Einsatz nichts im Weg.Ortovox (Ortovox Sportartikel GmbH, Taufkirchen, DE) is a sports equipment manufacturer founded on the idea of making sports in the mountains safer. This goal has been pursued for over 40 years, and continuous progress has been made. In this master's thesis, created and implemented in cooperation with Ortovox, the focus is on testing the functionality of devices under continuous load to ensure their long term use.Based on a specification document, a robotic test bench is to be developed, which can be used for testing safety equipment, especially avalanche transceivers (AT) and avalanche backpacks (AB). This bench should both automate existing tests and enable new tests. A particularly great help is the automation in performing time intensive endurance tests, which are partly only made possible by this new testing device.For the implementation of the project, a concept was developed that, using three stepper motors, can operate all buttons, switches, and levers on the AT device Diract and the AB Litric from Ortovox. This allows for the physical operation and testing of various functions of the devices. Additionally, a program code was written that allows for easy control and reprogramming of the test bench.Initial test runs have successfully shown that the test bench meets all the required criteria of the specification document.
