Riemann normal coordinates, Fermi reference system and the geodesic deviation equation

    No full text
We obtain the integral formulae for computing the tetrads and metric components in Riemann normal coordinates and the Fermi coordinate system of an observer in arbitrary motion. Our approach admits an essential enlarging of the range of validity of these coordinates. The results obtained are applied to the geodesic deviation in the field of a weak plane gravitational wave and the computation of the plane-wave metric in Fermi normal coordinates

A nonassociative generalization of the principal fiber bundles with a smooth loop mapping on the fiber is presented. Our approach allows us to construct a new kind of gauge theories that involve higher "nonassociative" symmetries. Nonassociativity, Dirac monopole and Aharonov-Bohm effect

    No full text
The Aharonov-Bohm (AB) effect for the singular string associated with the Dirac monopole carrying an arbitrary magnetic charge is studied. It is shown that the emerging difficulties in explanation of the AB effect may be removed by introducing nonassociative path-dependent wavefunctions. Our results imply that the Dirac singular string escapes detection in the AB experiment even for an arbitrary charged magnetic monopole. 2007 World Scientific Publishing Company

Three-cocycles, nonassociative gauge transformations and Dirac's monopole

    No full text
The relation between 3-cocycles arising in the Dirac monopole problem and nonassociative gauge transformations is studied. It is shown that nonassociative extension of the group U(1) allows to obtain a consistent theory of pointlike magnetic monopole with an arbitrary magnetic charge. © 2004 Elsevier B.V. An optimum Hamiltonian for non-Hermitian quantum evolution and the complex Bloch sphere

    No full text
For a quantum system governed by a non-Hermitian Hamiltonian, we studied the problem of obtaining an optimum Hamiltonian that generates nonunitary transformations of a given initial state into a certain final state in the smallest time ?. The analysis is based on the relationship between the states of the two-dimensional subspace of the Hilbert space spanned by the initial and final states and the points of the two-dimensional complex Bloch sphere. Topology change in (2+1)-dimensional gravity with non-Abelian Higgs field

    No full text
We study topology change in (2+1)D gravity coupling with non-Abelian SO(2, 1) Higgs field from the point of view of Morse theory. It is shown that the Higgs potential can be identified as a Morse function. The critical points of the latter (i.e. loci of change of the spacetime topology) coincide with zeros of the Higgs field. In these critical points the two-dimensional metric becomes degenerate, but the curvature remains bounded

On Vortex Dynamics in the Self-Dual Chern-Simons-Higgs System

    No full text
The dynamics of n vortices in the self-dual Chern-Simons-Higgs system defined on the infinite plane is investigated. In adiabatic approximation, the vortex dynamics is determined by considering a rigid motion of a vortex configuration and a motion around a fixed center of mass. A motion of two vortices is studied in detail

The quasigroup approach to the conservation laws [Phys. Rev. D 56 (1997) R7498] is completed by imposing new gauge conditions for asymptotic symmetries. Noether charge associated with an arbitrary element of the Poincaré quasialgebra is free from the supertranslational ambiguity and identically vanishes in a flat spacetime. © 1998 Published by Elsevier Science B.V
