Ndou, V., & Schiuma, G. (2020). The role of social innovation for a knowledge-based local development: insights from the literature review.
Abstract: This paper presents a comprehensive structured literature review of papers published with a focus on 'social innovation for knowledge-based local development'. The papers published in journals in the range 1997-2019 are analysed to derive insights and implications about the role of social innovation for local development according to a knowledge-based perspective. The analysis of the literature highlights the lack of a homogenous investigation of the relationships between social innovation and knowledge-based local development. However, findings show the growing importance of the theme and underline some relevant research streams: 1) Dynamics of social innovation for territorial development; 2) Promoting participatory development processes for interactive learning, networking and knowledge exchange; and 3) The role of institutions to promote, sustain and develop knowledge-based territorial development systems. The paper concludes with a discussion of the open questions for future research
ricettività, su come arrivare e come muoversi all’interno, su
quali sono le attrazioni più importanti da vedere, su quali
itinerari si possono seguire ecc

Integrated System for a Reliable Traceability of Food Supply Chains
the project aims to develop an innovative food traceability system based on the following
aspects:
(i) establishment of objective connections between the product flow and the information
flow along the food chain. This will be realised through the implementation of
microdevices, based on microarrays and Q RT-PCR technologies embedded in lab-on-achip
(ii) development of an information management system which fits to the existing
technologies present along the diverse players of the food chain from the raw materials
to the sale of products and it is open for upcoming technologies, without imposing any
technology change to any player. This will be achieved through the development of a
Service Oriented Architecture model
(iii) maximum care of cost aspects of the used technologies due to the fact that for being
routinely implemented in the food sector, having typically tiny margins, traceability
needs to weight not more than between 1 and 2% of the product cost. This will be
achieved with use of inexpensive technologies (internet based), continuous cost
assessment of project results, innovative ways to exploit the system.
The new traceability system will integrate EU and non-EU emerging technologies from ongoing
projects into a single framework and will implement a pilot version in two
representative food chain models: feed/dairy and tomato (dominant chains of the agro- food
sector).
The project is articulated around 10 WP, including project management, and has a duration of
48 months. It is supported by extensive training of food chain stakeholders, dissemination to
scientific, public and business decision makers and exploitation for driving food chains
towards the proposed traceability system. The project will include SME Baskets for involving
high-tech SMEs and food SMEs into the realisation of the pilot system
Is TripAdvisor still relevant? The influence of review credibility, review usefulness, and ease of use on consumers’ continuance intention
Recent figures show that users are discontinuing their usage of TripAdvisor, the leading user-generated content (UGC) platform in the tourism sector. Hence, it is relevant to study the factors that influence travelers’ continued use of TripAdvisor. Design/methodology/approach: The authors have integrated constructs from the technology acceptance model, information systems (IS) continuance model and electronic word of mouth literature. They used PLS-SEM (smartPLS V.3.2.8) to test the hypotheses using data from 297 users of TripAdvisor recruited through Prolific. Findings: Findings reveal that perceived ease of use, online consumer review (OCR) credibility and OCR usefulness have a positive impact on customer satisfaction, which ultimately leads to continuance intention of UGC platforms. Customer satisfaction mediates the effect of the independent variables on continuance intention. Practical implications: Managers of UGC platforms (i.e. TripAdvisor) can benefit from the findings of this study. Specifically, they should improve the ease of use of their platforms by facilitating travelers’ information searches. Moreover, they should use signals to make credible and helpful content stand out from the crowd of reviews. Originality/value: This is the first study that adopts the IS continuance model in the travel and tourism literature to research the factors influencing consumers’ continued use of travel-based UGC platforms. Moreover, the authors have extended this model by including new constructs that are particularly relevant to UGC platforms, such as performance heuristics and OCR credibility. © 2020, Emerald Publishing Limited
Digital transformation experiences in the Balkan countries
The purpose of this editorial paper is to provide an overview of the contributions that have been presented in the special issue titled “Industry 4.0 and digital transformation in the Balkan countries.”
The special issue aims to extend and consolidate this emerging research area by mainly exploring how developing countries are dealing with digital transformation and how it impacts innovation and competitiveness. We have invited scholars to present their research that deals with the main emerging impacts and issues and impacts of new digital technologies within both the private sector (tourism, agri-food, health, to give examples etc) and the public sector; the role of digital technologies for research and education; the understanding of how DT can contribute to environmental and sustainable objectives as well as a general comprehension of the emerging issues around DT.
Within this editorial we will present 4 papers that span from contributions related to the set of skills and capabilities that are necessary within for firms in order for them to be able to manage DTs up to Fintech approaches and experiences, digital transformation readiness of firms and eLearning experiences
