No full textThe subject of this dissertation is Ludwig van, Mauricio Kagel’s tribute to Beethoven on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the latter’s birth, which consists of three separate, but closely related, versions: a film, a musical score and a recording. The main aim of this project is to analyse the performance problems that musicians have to face when realising the score Ludwig van, which is an entirely indeterminate collage of Beethoven’s music, and to suggest ways of tackling them. For this purpose, all three versions of the work are studied in this thesis. The film is examined in terms of the issues it raises concerning Beethoven’s reception and of the function of its music, which consists of unusual performances of Beethoven’s works. The score is analysed from the perspective of postmodern theory and 20th-century art movements, while the roles of the composer and the performer are discussed and redefined. The recording is studied as a sample of how Kagel himself chose to realise his own score. Finally, the difficulties I encountered in my own attempts to realise Ludwig van are discussed, and the ways in which I dealt with them are presented. The conclusion at which this dissertation arrives is that, in works of such indeterminacy as Ludwig van, the performers are required to step outside their conventional role and act partly as composers. Compared to works that are considered challenging to the performer in the conventional sense, of requiring technical virtuosity, this work presents a more fundamental challenge, which has to do with overcoming personal boundaries: it asks the performer not to execute a pre-composed work, but to create their own version of Ludwig van. Since very little has been written about Ludwig van by performers with an academic background, this thesis can offer valuable assistance to prospective performers of the work in their attempt to balance between the highly charged conceptual aspect of the composition and the practical need to achieve its successful performance

una disminución en el tiempo de exposición a pantallas y videojuegos, al ocupar el tiempo libre en actividad física, donde el 45% de los estudiantes practican fútbol mientras que
solo el 10% practica básquetbol. Se elaboró una propuesta que integra los espacios recreativos para brindar diferentes alternativas de deportes a los estudiantes de la Unidad

No full textEl presente trabajo de aplicación busca explorar un nuevo segmento de mercado para los seguros de vida. Este estudio surge ante la necesidad de generar nuevas estrategias que impacten positivamente en las ventas, dado que actualmente no se están alcanzando los resultados esperados. Se tomó como base para el estudio a un equipo comercial de la aseguradora MetLife , el cual ha tenido un bajo desempeño en el periodo de enero a noviembre de 2024. Se está generando el 74% de la meta comercial, a tan solo un mes de finalizar el año. Su desempeño respecto al año anterior no ha mostrado mejoría significativa, atribuible a la saturación del mercado actual, enfocado principalmente en empleados de altos ingresos. Este segmento tiene actualmente múltiples opciones ofrecidas por empresas con servicios similares. El nuevo segmento de mercado busca diversificar la cartera de clientes, enfocándose en trabajadores independientes con negocios propios y una alta capacidad adquisitiva. Los resultados demuestran que hay un mercado potencial entre los independientes dueños de negocios ubicados en las zonas oriente y centro de la ciudad de Cali. Además, se identificó que estas personas están interesadas en proteger su patrimonio, pero carecen actualmente de asesorías en estos temas. A través de este trabajo, se justifica la elección del tema, se describe el proceso de análisis y se proponen estrategias que podrían marcar la diferencia en la incursión de este nuevo segmento.This application work seeks to explore a new market segment for life insurance. This study arises from the need to generate new strategies that positively impact sales, given that current results are not meeting expectations. The study was based on a sales team from the insurer MetLife, which has shown low performance from January to November 2024. Only 74% of the sales target is being generated, with just one month left in the year. Their performance compared to the previous year has not shown significant improvement, attributable to the saturation of the current market, focused primarily on high-income employees. This segment currently has multiple options offered by companies with similar services. The new market segment aims to diversify the client portfolio, focusing on independent workers with their own businesses and high purchasing power. The results demonstrate a potential market among independent business owners located in the eastern and central areas of the city of Cali. Furthermore, it was identified that these individuals are interested in protecting their assets but currently lack advice on these matters. Characterization of lupus activity in the central and peripheral nervous system of patients with SLE and end-stage chronic kidney disease
No full textEl lupus eritematoso sistémico (LES) es una enfermedad autoinmune y crónica de causa aún desconocida (1). El compromiso neuropsiquiátrico es una complicación relativamente frecuente durante la actividad lúpica y se caracteriza por síndromes neurológicos focales, síndromes psiquiátricos difusos y/o compromiso del sistema nervioso periférico. Existe una importante variabilidad en la prevalencia e incidencia de estas manifestaciones con un rango de 4-91% para el compromiso del SNC y 8-40% para el SNP (2). Usualmente ocurre durante el curso temprano de la enfermedad y puede ser el síntoma de debut en el 39-50% de los pacientes con LES (2). La enfermedad renal crónica en estadio final es una complicación frecuente de los pacientes con LES y la terapia dialítica se ha relacionado con remisión de la enfermedad (3). Sin embargo algunos estudios recientes han encontrado persistencia de la actividad de la enfermedad después del advenimiento de las complicaciones renales (4-8). Datos recientes muestran que más del 50% de los pacientes con LES desarrollarán una nefritis clínicamente relevante en algún momento durante el curso de su enfermedad, mientras en el 20% de estos pacientes, el daño renal progresa a enfermedad renal en estadio final (ERC5D) (9). La divergencia en los estudio sobre la actividad lúpica después del inicio de terapia de reemplazo renal obliga a realizar nuevos estudios que permitan dilucidar el comportamiento de la enfermedad antes y después de su inicio. Por lo tanto el propósito de la presente investigación es describir el efecto de la diálisis en la actividad lúpica del sistema nervioso en pacientes con LES y enfermedad renal crónica en estadio final. En conclusión, nosotros encontramos que la actividad lúpica en el sistema nervioso es menos frecuente (3%) en los pacientes con TRR vs (12%) en los pacientes sin TRR. Adicionalmente después de 1 año de iniciada la TRR parece disminuir el riesgo de actividad autoinmune.Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease of unknown cause. Neuropsychiatric involvement is a relatively common complication during lupus activity and is characterized by focal neurological syndromes, diffuse psychiatric syndromes, and / or peripheral nervous system involvement. There is significant variability in the prevalence and incidence of these manifestations with a range of 4-91% for CNS involvement and 8-40% for the PNS. It usually occurs during the early course of the disease and can be the debut symptom in 39-50% of SLE patients. End-stage chronic kidney disease is a common complication of patients with SLE, and dialysis therapy has been associated with disease remission. However, some recent studies have found persistence of disease activity after the onset of kidney complications. Recent data show that more than 50% of patients with SLE will develop clinically relevant nephritis at some point during the course of their disease, while in 20% of these patients, kidney damage progresses to end-stage renal disease (CKD5D) . The divergence in the studies on lupus activity after the start of renal replacement therapy makes it necessary to carry out new studies that make it possible to elucidate the behavior of the disease before and after its onset. Therefore, the purpose of the present investigation is to describe the effect of dialysis on the lupus activity of the nervous system in patients with SLE and end-stage chronic kidney disease. In conclusion, we found that lupus activity in the nervous system is less frequent (3%) in patients with RRT vs (12%) in patients without RRT. How personal experience modulates the neural circuitry of memories of September 11
No full textBrown and Kulik [Brown R, Kulik J (1977) Cognition 5:73–99] introduced the term “flashbulb memory” to describe the recall of shocking, consequential events such as hearing news of a presidential assassination. They proposed that the vivid detail of such memories results from the action of a unique neural mechanism. In the present study of personal recollections of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 (9/11) in New York City, we combine behavioral and brain imaging techniques, with two goals: (i) to explore the neural basis of such memories and (ii) to clarify the characteristics of the emotional events that may give rise to them. Three years after the terrorist attacks, participants were asked to retrieve memories of 9/11, as well as memories of personally selected control events from 2001. At the time of the attacks, some participants were in Downtown Manhattan, close to the World Trade Center; others were in Midtown, a few miles away. The Downtown participants exhibited selective activation of the amygdala as they recalled events from 9/11, but not while they recalled control events. This was not the case for the Midtown participants. Moreover, only the Downtown participants reported emotionally enhanced recollective experiences while recalling events from 9/11, as compared with control events. These results suggest that close personal experience may be critical in engaging the neural mechanisms that underlie the emotional modulation of memory and thus in producing the vivid recollections to which the term flashbulb memory is often applied.This is an electronic version of the article published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 104(1):389-394, 2007.
