    Green Consumers’ Responses to Integrated Digital Communication in the Context of Multichannel Retail

    Because of the fast rise of Internet commerce, a firm now has access to a plethora of new communication channels in addition to conventional ones and the problem is determining the best balance of physical and online channels. Due to the fact that their role in the value chain is to be close to green consumers, these businesses can effectively implement multichannel communication strategies. The purpose of this study is to determine how the use of integrated digital communication could change how green customers act in multichannel retail. The data from 396 respondents with multichannel retailing experience were collected to conduct an empirical investigation on social media platforms, i.e., Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, which was then analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The study’s findings emphasized the significance of planning, implementing, and regulating multichannel communication on the one hand and the impacts of recognizing the unique demands of integrated information and communication of green customers in multichannel retail on the other. The relevance of this study is that it provides insights into green consumer decision-making research and integrated digital communication to manage consumer relationships

    A Novel Risk Calculator to Predict Erectile Dysfunction in HIV-Positive Men

    HIV infection is considered to be a lifelong medical condition, requiring follow-up and treatment for decades. HIV-positive men are reported to have erectile dysfunction more often than age-matched healthy controls, and improving sexuality is known to potentially improve overall health-related quality of life. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the presence of ED in HIV-positive men and the associated contributing factors and to create a statistical model to assess the risk to develop ED in this population. In a prospective study, we analyzed a group of HIV-positive men in a cross-sectional manner, looking at demographics, blood test results, and smoking habits. Data were statistically analyzed using the Kruskal–Wallis test. In our series, the overall incidence of ED was 48.5%, increasing with age. Our analysis showed no correlation with blood sugar level, but a very strong correlation with total serum lipids. We were able to develop and validate a risk calculator for ED in HIV-positive men

    Supplementary Treatment for Alleviating Pain and Enhancing Functional Ability in Geriatric Patients with Osteoarthritis

    Background and Objectives: A degenerative joint disease that primarily affects elderly individuals, osteoarthritis (OA) causes pain, decreased mobility, and a lower quality of life. Procaine is regarded as a “veteran” medicine due to its extensive clinical use, although it remains a molecule of interest, as researchers are uncovering new biological and pharmacological effects through innovative experimental methods. This study evaluates the efficacy of the “procaine complex”, developed in our country, in alleviating pain and improving functionality in elderly individuals with osteoarthritis of the knee and hip. Materials and Methods: We conducted an assessment of a longitudinal short-term study involving 177 patients aged 65 and older, who were randomly divided into two groups. One group received physical therapy and “procaine complex” periarticular injections (n = 101), while the other group received just physical therapy (n = 76). We assessed pain using a visual analog scale (VAS), in addition to functional evaluations using the Lequesne Index, Activities of Daily Living (ADL), and Instrumental ADL (IADL) scores. We evaluated these through a CGA (complex geriatric assessment), the walk test, “Up and Go” test, Mini Mental State (MMSE) and Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) for cognitive status. We analyzed all the data from this study using PSPP v3 software. Results: The procaine complex treatment group exhibited a significant reduction in pain (p < 0.001) and improvement in daily activities (p < 0.001) relative to the control group. However, there was no notable difference in walking test scores (p = 0.171). No substantial detrimental effects were identified. The procaine complex did not surpass physical therapy in reducing depressive disorders, but both groups showed some enhancement in this regard. Conclusions: This study demonstrates an innovative approach to pain management by integrating periarticular “procaine complex” injections with physical therapy. This provides elderly individuals experiencing osteoarthritis pain and functional limitations with a secure and efficacious alternative to surgery, or may diminish years of disability

    Novel Antimicrobials, Drug Delivery Systems and Antivirulence Targets in the Pipeline—From Bench to Bedside

    In a fast-paced medical reality, biosciences and bioengineering have become essential components in medical research and development. The aim of this paper is to characterize the recent progresses made in fighting antimicrobial resistance, particularly in relation to WHO’s priority pathogens, by providing an in-depth review of novel antimicrobials, drug delivery systems for targeted antimicrobial action and novel antivirulence targets. We systematically searched the ClinicalTrials.gov database to identify clinical trials targeting WHO’s priority 1 (critical) pathogens: carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii, carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and carbapenem-resistant ESBL-producing Enterobacteriaceae. We identified a limited number of clinical trials, specifically for: one novel betalactamase inhibitor for Acinetobacter spp., one anti-virulence human monoclonal antibody for Pseudomonas spp. and no novel antimicrobials for carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae. We also performed a review of field literature to exemplify the main applications of drug delivery systems in infectious diseases, particularly in achieving targeted antibiotic distribution, in enhancing local activity with reduced off-target effects, triggered antibiotic release and triggered antibacterial photodynamic therapy. We conclude by presenting novel targets for antivirulence therapeutics that act by disrupting quorum sensing, inhibiting bacterial adherence and biofilm formation, silencing virulence traits and neutralizing bacterial toxins. Furthermore, the main principles of rational antimicrobial use are highlighted, in an effort to describe potential areas for targeted intervention, from diagnostic stewardship to antimicrobial stewardship
