Genus Osientomon Nakamura gen. nov. Type species: Osientomon japonicum sp. nov. Additional species: Osientomon linoculum (Zhang & Yin, 1981) comb. nov. Diagnosis. Eosentomids with spiracles on thoracic tergites II– III and three pairs of two-segmented abdominal appendages. On head, labral setae present. Foretarsal sensillum e absent; g short and setiform; b'1 absent. On female squama genitalis, processus sternalis S-shaped and caput processus of duck’s head type. Discussion. Among Eosentomidae, the present genus is characterized by having setiform g on the foretarsus as in Isoentomon Tuxen from Europe (Corsica), Africa (Kenya), Mexico, Brazil and Australia (Tuxen, 1975) and Madagascarentomon Nosek from Madagascar (Nosek, 1978). However, the new genus differs from the latter two by the presence of labral setae on the head and the shape of caput processus on the female squama genitalis; it further differs from Isoentomon by the absence of foretarsal sensillum b'1, and from Madagascarentomon by the absence of foretarsal sensillum e and the length of g. This new genus also resembles Zhongguohentomon Yin from China (Yin, 1979), but it clearly differs from the latter in the absence of foretarsal sensillum e, the shape of g, the position of P2a on abdominal tergite VIII, and the structure of female squama genitalis. Zhang & Yin (1981) described Isoentomon linoculum, which Yin (1999) moved to Paranisentomon Zhang & Yin. However, I consider it appropriate to include the species in the new genus proposed here, as it bears a short and setiform g on foretarsus, which places it in Isoentominae, rather than Anisentominae. This species also has labral setae on the head, lacks foretarsal sensillum b'1, and possesses an S-shaped processus sternalis and duck’s head-type caput processus on the female squama genitalis, characters of Osientomon and not Isoentomon. Etymology. The generic name is made by anagram of the genus Isoentomon, which is closely to the new genus; gender neuter. Distribution. Japan and China.Published as part of Nakamura, Osami, 2010, Taxonomic revision of the family Eosentomidae (Hexapoda: Protura) from Japan 2701, pp. 1-109 in Zootaxa 2701 on pages 5-

"Gen Ed locates serious discussion of general education in the context of some of the day-to-day realities encountered in putting it into practice and promoting efforts at reform at Metropolitan Atlantic University (aka the Metro). This dual focus is found in the often-pugnacious policy debate among the faculty and a more light-hearted discussion of related questions carried on by Professor Kelly as he models Socratic teaching in his upper-level class for prospective teachers. Reforming general education at the Metro is not free of the vanities and vulgarities of ambitious men and women and self-serving politicians, of course, nor those who poke fun at them. Arnie Smatter, the irrepressible and nosey chat show host of Radio YOY ensures that this does not go unnoticed. The overall humorous tone of Gen Ed does not detract from Mulcahy's thoughtful treatment of substantive issues that will be of interest to serious scholars, students, and a general readership. It is the behaviour of those involved, the broader media and political contexts in which events take place, which mainly becomes the object of humorous treatment"--Includes bibliographical references and index.Preface -- Acknowledgements -- Chapter 1 -- Chapter 2 -- Chapter 3 -- Chapter 4 -- Chapter 5 -- Chapter 6 -- Chapter 7 -- Chapter 8 -- Chapter 9 -- Chapter 10 -- Chapter 11 -- Chapter 12 -- Chapter 13 -- Chapter 14 -- Chapter 15 -- Chapter 16 -- Chapter 17 -- Chapter 18 -- Chapter 19 -- Chapter 20 -- Appendix: Questions for Discussion, Suggested Topics for Term Papers and Research Projects -- References -- About the Author."Gen Ed locates serious discussion of general education in the context of some of the day-to-day realities encountered in putting it into practice and promoting efforts at reform at Metropolitan Atlantic University (aka the Metro). A new approach and error analysis for reconstructing the scattered wave by the point source method

Consider an inverse scattering problem by an obstacle D subset of R-2 with impedance boundary. We investigate the reconstruction of the scattered field u(s) from its far field pattern u(infinity) using the point source method. First, by applying the boundary integral equation method, we provide a new approach to the point-source method of Potthast by classical potential theory. This extends the range of the point source method from plane waves to scattering of arbitrary waves. Second, by analyzing the behavior of the Hankel function, we obtain an improved strategy for the choice of the regularizing parameter from which an improved convergence rate (compared to the result of [15]) is achieved for the reconstruction of the scattered wave. Third, numerical implementations are given to test the validity and stability of the inversion method for the impedance obstacle
