The participants were from two identified Refugia sites, namely Bolinao, Pangasinan and Masinloc, Zambales. The goal of this training is to provide updated data that will assist the Local Government Units (LGUs) in establishing policy measures to conserve spawning and nursery Refugia in their respective municipalities.  As part of the activity, the technical enumerators completed tasks on on-site data collection, sampling, and proper storage of the fish samples. UNEP/GE

    This report is under the SEAFDEC/UNEP/GEF Project on “Establishment and Operation of a Regional System of Fisheries Refugia in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand”Basic Training on Coastal and Marine Law Enforcement was organized by NFRDI/Fisheries Refugia Project on 23-27 September 2019 in Pangasinan. The objectives of this training are to raise knowledge and skills in the basic rules of apprehension and handling of evidence; to improve the understandings of national laws, local ordinances and other instrumentalities, the process on how coastal and fishery law enforcement, as well as; to raise awareness of how to handle different situation in fisheries law violation by the Law Enforcement Team and, how to detect fish caught by explosive/dynamite. Moreover, there were 20 participants from law enforcement team and officials of the different coastal barangays of Bolinao, Pangasinan.UNEP/GE
