A Novel Fuzzy Based Relay Node Deployment Scheme for Multi-hop Relay Network
AbstractIn cellular communication, a multi-hop relay (MHR) network plays an important role by reducing the cost of deployment and extending the coverage area. To achieve high transmission rate and coverage, an efficient placement of relay nodes (RN) is needed in MHR network. In this paper, a suitable deployment scheme is proposed for the RNs to obtain high system performance. By using fuzzy logic, optimum deployment sites are selected for RNs, which results in better throughput and coverage. Simulation results shows that our proposed scheme gives a better throughput and coverage performance than the existing uniform clustering and joint base station and relay station placement (JBRP) scheme
A Novel Relay Station Deployment Scheme for beyond 4G Multi-hop Network
AbstractIn Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) and Worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) systems, the coverage area, signal strength and transmission quality are affected by white Gaussian noise, shadowing, wireless interference etc. This effect can be decreased by using more number of evolved NodeBs (eNB), but problem is that eNBs are expensive and it will increase network cost. Relay Stations (RS) are less expensive than eNBs, hence we go for RS deployment instead of eNBs. Thus this paper proposes a cost effective deployment of RSs using dynamic cost based deployment of RS (DCDR) approach. This approach first analyse the impact parameters and then finds the dynamic weighting and network cost for different deployment combination. Simulation result shows that DCDR approach gives a cost effective solution for the deployment of RSs
A BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF CONTRIBUTIONS IN THE JOURNAL “NATURE”
The present study Bibliometric analysis of the Journal “Nature” covers 13499 articles of 59 volumes in five years from 2013 to 2017. The aim of study was to analyze the year wise distribution of articles & citations, authorship pattern of articles, group co-efficient values for collaborative author’s publications, ranking of authors based on publications and h-index score, most productive countries and institutions, type of document published, keyword distribution, impact factor and future growth of journal. Form the analysis the following Results has been found that, in the year 2015 highest number of 2944(21.81%) articles was published out of 13499 articles in five years. Average numbers of citations per article are 33.70. Single author contribution has more dominant with 7063(52.3%) articles. A total number of 88670 authors around the globe are contributing articles in this journal. The anonymous author has been ranked top contributing maximum 987 articles. Witze A is in the second position with 179 articles. Wang J has been influenced author contributed in “Nature” journal, who produced 54 articles with having h-index 41 with 17031 citations and ranked in first place. It is identified that distribution number of references is gradually decreased year by year. In geographical distribution articles, United States of America has contributed highest number of 5815 articles with 31.07%. Majority of the participants are from University of California with 980 (7.25%) articles. The maximum number of 4719(34.96%) records is Editorial Materials which is more than one-fourth of total publications. The word “Expression” was most occurred keyword in 359(2.65%) articles. Impact Factor of the previous year (2017) is 25.95 and five-year impact factor is 33.70. The future trend of growth of research articles in “Nature” journal may take increasing for upcoming years

Improved Efficacy of Doxycycline in Liposomes Against Plasmodium falciparum in Culture and P. berghei infection in mice.
The rate at which Plasmodium falciparum is developing resistance to clinically used antimalarial drugs is alarming. Therefore, there is a compelling need to develop an efficient drug delivery system to improve the efficacy of existing antimalarial agents and circumvent drug resistance. Here, we report the antibacterial drug doxycycline (DOXY) in liposomal formulations exhibits enhanced antiplasmodial activity against blood stage forms of P. falciparum (3D7) in culture and established Plasmodium berghei NK-65 infection in murine model. Parasite killing on blood stage forms in culture was determined by a radiolabeled [3H] hypoxanthine incorporation assay and infected erythrocytes stained with Giemsa were counted using microscopy in vivo. The 50% inhibitory concentration (IC50) of DOXY-stearylamine liposome (IC50 0.36 μM) and DOXY-SPC:Chol-liposome (IC50 0.85 μM) exhibited marked growth inhibition of parasites compared with free DOXY (IC50 14 μM), with minimal toxicity to normal erythrocytes. Administration of polyethylene glycol distearoyl phosphatidylethanolamine-methoxy-polyethylene glycol2000 (DSPE-mPEG-2000) coated liposomes loaded with DOXY at 2.5 mg/kg per day resulted in efficacious killing of blood parasites with improved survival in mice relative to the free drug in both chloroquine sensitive and resistant strains of P. berghei infection. This is the first report to demonstrate that DOXY in liposomal system has immense chemotherapeutic potential against plasmodial infections at lower dosages.The accepted manuscript in pdf format is listed with the files at the bottom of this page. Roadmap on digital holography-based quantitative phase imaging
Quantitative Phase Imaging (QPI) provides unique means for the imaging of biological or technical microstructures, merging beneficial features identified with microscopy, interferometry, holography, and numerical computations. This roadmap article reviews several digital holography-based QPI approaches developed by prominent research groups. Effect of fine particles on strength and stiffness of cement treated sand

Naturally available sands are always found with finer particles of varying sizes and proportions which are generally not accounted for in the geotechnical design of a cemented soil system. This paper explores the behavior of cemented sand with fine particles in smaller proportions. Two types of cements: (1) ordinary portland cement (OPC), (2) calcium sulfoaluminate cement (CSA); three cement contents: 3%, 5%, 7% and four fine (kaolin powder) contents: 0%, 1%, 3%, 5% are considered in this study. The ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV), shear wave velocity (Vs) and unconfined compressive strength (UCS) are measured to investigate the effects of fine particles on the cemented sand. The results show that fine particles do affect quite significantly the mechanical properties of cement-treated sand, even at negligent proportions. The strength and stiffness increase with fine content in both types of cement. The increase in strength and stiffness with increasing fine contents is attributed to the increased density with kaolin acting as a filler material facilitating more contact points among the particles. The results also show that the effect of fine particles on cemented sand depends not only on their relative volume and mineralogy but also on the type of the binding material
Non-invasive approach to mend the broken heart: is “remote conditioning” a promising strategy for application in humans?
Currently, there are no satisfactory interventions to protect the heart against the detrimental effects of ischemia-reperfusion injury. Although ischemic preconditioning (PC) is the most powerful form of intrinsic cardioprotection, its application in humans is limited to planned interventions, due to its short duration and technical requirements. However, many organs/tissues are capable of producing â remoteâ PC (RPC) when subjected to brief bouts of ischemia-reperfusion. RPC was first described in the heart where brief ischemia in one territory led to protection in other area. Later on, RPC started to be used in patients with acute myocardial infarction, albeit with ambiguous results. It is hypothesized that the connection between the signal triggered in remote organ and protection induced in the heart can be mediated by humoral and neural pathways as well as via systemic response to short sublethal ischemia. However, although RPC has a potentially important clinical role, our understanding of the mechanistic pathways linking the local stimulus to the remote organ remains incomplete. Nevertheless, RPC appears as a cost-effective and easily performed intervention. Elucidation of protective mechanisms activated in the remote organ may have therapeutic and diagnostic implications in the management of myocardial ischemia and lead to development of pharmacological RPC mimetics.The accepted manuscript in pdf format is listed with the files at the bottom of this page.
